How do I start using CaptionWise?

Select Get started to open the Web App without installing anything. Sign in, choose an audio source, translation language, and project, then start reading live bilingual captions.

What is the difference between the Web App and desktop app?

The Web App provides live translation, projects, and history in your browser. The desktop app also provides floating captions across apps, local recording, and playback.

Do I need an internet connection?

Live speech recognition and translation require an internet connection. Audio and the relevant text are sent to cloud services for processing.

How are recordings and captions saved?

The Web App does not create or save audio files. Final captions and session information are stored by CaptionWise. Desktop recordings stay in your chosen local folder, while final captions and session information sync to the service.

Which languages are supported?

Supports the following 30 languages. Auto-detect or select the source language, then choose your target language before starting a session.

Can I use system audio or a microphone?

Choose your microphone or system audio before a session. System-audio sharing in the Web App depends on browser and operating-system support, while the desktop app provides system-level audio capture.

Can I display the original and translation together?

Yes. Choose bilingual, translation-only, or original-only captions. The main view and caption overlay share the same display mode and text-size settings.

Can I switch between light and dark modes?

Yes. Both the Web App and desktop app support light and dark modes, available from settings.
