# aVenture Documentation > aVenture provides research on private companies, founders, investors, funding rounds, and news through a REST API, CLI, and MCP server. Every surface requires an aVenture account (free or paid): https://aventure.vc/sign-up ## Get Started - [MCP Quickstart](https://docs.aventure.vc/mcp): Connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI app to the hosted aVenture MCP server with a copy-paste prompt; recommended for desktop, web, and cloud AI apps. In Researchly (https://researchly.chat), choose Connect aVenture under Profile, then MCP servers. - [CLI Quickstart](https://docs.aventure.vc/cli): Install `@aventurevc/aventure-cli` (Node.js 24.18.0 or later) with a copy-paste prompt, sign in, and find a company or person by name, website, or description; recommended for terminals and coding agents. - [API Quickstart](https://docs.aventure.vc/quickstart): Create an API key, find a company or person by name, website, or description, and read its funding rounds. - [Answer a Real Question](https://docs.aventure.vc/first-answer): Filter companies, open one record, and read its funding rounds in API, CLI, and MCP form. - [Use Cases and Examples](https://docs.aventure.vc/use-cases): Copy-paste API, CLI, and MCP recipes: a company's brand kit (name, logo, tags) from its website, matching a list of websites to companies, target lists, funding histories, round investors, investor portfolios, founder backgrounds, competitors, and news monitoring. - [Identify a Company or Person](https://docs.aventure.vc/lookup): Experimental. Turn a name plus URL, location, and context clues into the matching record. - [Identify Names in an Article](https://docs.aventure.vc/lookup-articles): Experimental. Extract every company and person a news article names and identify each one. - [Identify a List of Names](https://docs.aventure.vc/lookup-jobs): Experimental. Identify up to 2,000 company and person names, from a list or one page, in a lookup-only background job. - [Update Records With Research](https://docs.aventure.vc/research-updates): Experimental. Judge record freshness and queue single or batch research updates. - [Company Brand Lookup](https://docs.aventure.vc/company-brand-lookup): Get a company's names, logos, website and social URLs, and categories from any URL it owns, its slug, or its id. - [News Alerts](https://docs.aventure.vc/news-alerts): Subscribe a webhook to a company and receive each new article as a signed `entity.news.published` event; list, test, and unsubscribe from the API, CLI, or MCP Events. - [Call MCP Tools Directly](https://docs.aventure.vc/mcp-tools): Name the operation, place each input, and read tool answers from your own code or prompts. - [Authentication](https://docs.aventure.vc/authentication): Create an API key and sign in from the CLI or an MCP client. - [Plans and Usage](https://docs.aventure.vc/plans-and-usage): What counts against your plan's allowances and how to upgrade. - [Pagination and Filtering](https://docs.aventure.vc/pagination-and-filtering): Page through results and combine filters. - [Asynchronous Requests](https://docs.aventure.vc/async-requests): Send `Prefer: respond-async` on a lookup, web search, or link search to get a 202 and a job to poll instead of waiting. - [Errors](https://docs.aventure.vc/errors): Interpret error responses, rate limits, and plan usage limits. - [API Reference](https://docs.aventure.vc/api-reference): Every endpoint, parameter, and schema. - [API Operation Index](https://docs.aventure.vc/api-reference/llms.txt): Index of API operation pages. ## MCP - [aVenture Data MCP](https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp): Connect with an MCP client over Streamable HTTP and sign in through the browser with OAuth. A client that asks for an OAuth client ID, or fails with `does not support dynamic client registration`, uses client ID `KL7mINzGk0le0QiD`. Claude Code: `claude mcp add --scope user --transport http --client-id KL7mINzGk0le0QiD --callback-port 6276 aventure https://mcp.aventure.vc/mcp`, then `/mcp` to sign in. A `401` later means the sign-in expired: reconnect the server in the client. An ordinary GET request is not supported. - [Documentation-Search MCP](https://docs.aventure.vc/_mcp/server): Optionally search this documentation through Fern's MCP server. It is separate from the aVenture data MCP. ## Packages and Source - [aVenture CLI Source](https://github.com/aventurevc/aventure-cli) and [`@aventurevc/aventure-cli`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@aventurevc/aventure-cli) on npm. - [aVenture MCP Source](https://github.com/aventurevc/aventure-mcp) and [`@aventurevc/mcp-server`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@aventurevc/mcp-server) on npm, for running the server locally (rarely needed; most clients use the hosted server). - [`@aventurevc/api-schemas`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@aventurevc/api-schemas) provides TypeScript schemas and types.
