Sheriff and Mayor.

Obituary: Fort Worth (TX) Record-Telegram, page 3, Monday, 9 February 1931.

It says he was the son of Confederate General W. L. Cabell. In 1892, Cabell was elected sheriff of Dallas County. In 1900 when he was elected Mayor of Dallas, Texas, which he served until 1904.
