[BUG]: Blocks Google AI Overviews with a "400 Malformed Request" Error #495
Description
Activity
same issue here
tested on firefox and chromeAlso happens on Brave. Sometimes in the Google All search result page, the small AI Overview window works, but other times it does not.
Very rough and probably wrong guess
Maybe Google caches the AI response of highly popular search query so they can be instantly shipped with the search result. Unpopular search requests have to get first processed by Google's AI and can only then be sent back to the user. This would potentially also explain why for very specific queries, the results of AI overview takes a few seconds longer to load instead of being there instantly. So ClearURLs maybe blocks the request sent to Google's AI server?+1. related / more generic solution: #478
What i am now thinking is that ClearURLs is not being maintained now, because if you see commits sequencially, its stopped

@plantindesk do you know any alternatives?
No update on this issue? It's been 3 months.
guys a (sort of) workaround is to use google's gemini on its dedicated site https://gemini.google.com/app in case anyone didnt know abt this
@aplotor gemini app is normal mode while ai mode is other thing
@bptrsn i think it is now unmaintained
Reacted by BorisIt does seem like the project lost its maintainer. I hope somebody who knows this stuff takes over. There are bugs to fix, sites to add, and most importantly....features like domain whitelist to add. I was a great addon while it worked.
Forking and resolving the issues is only solution
For anyone who came here looking for a solution, I forked the rule repo, added the commit from #183 (credits to @aisamu) and deployed the rules with GitHub Pages. You can use the rules by changing the rule URL to https://imjuzcy.github.io/ClearURLs_Rules/data.minify.json and https://imjuzcy.github.io/ClearURLs_Rules/rules.minify.hash in Add-ons Manager (not the panel you get when you open the extension!) in Firefox or the equivalent to Chrome.

So, it was documented as "disable 'filter' to fix it" on the troubleshooting page.
In my case, removing the specific
xmlhttprequestitem from "Request types (expert level)" brings it back.font,image,imageset,main_frame,media,object,object_subrequest,other,script,stylesheet,sub_frame,websocket,xml_dtd,xslt
Description
When the extension is active, attempting to use Google AI mode results in a 400 error. That's an error. Your client's request is malformed or illegal. This causes the AI feature to fail to load.
Disabling the extension immediately resolves the issue, and the Google AI mode function works correctly.
Reproducible Steps
Error Logs:
Environment
OS: Windows 11
Browser: Helium browser (ungoogled chromium fork)
