On SmartOS,
rediscurrently writes its config to/opt/local/etc/redis.conf. This is fine for a standalone redis server, but when managing the config via redis sentinel, this causes issues because it needs read-write permissions on the directory to store a temporary config file, in this case/opt/local/etc.The error message in the logs was:
An easy fix I tested working was creating the directory
/opt/local/etc/rediswith ownerredisand moving bothredis.confandsentinel.confthere.
