Debian does a autopkgtest like this:
$ sudo aide --config=/etc/aide/aide.conf --path-check=f=proc:/proc/cpuinfo
WARNING: unable to match the file system type restriction of selective rule (/etc/aide/aide.conf.d/98_aide_vfat:6: '/ =vfat Full-i'): file system type missing for '/'
WARNING: unable to match the file system type restriction of selective rule (/etc/aide/aide.conf.d/98_aide_vfat:6: '/ =vfat Full-i'): file system type missing for '/proc'
[ ] f=proc:/proc/cpuinfo: parent directory '/proc' matches non-recursive negative rule: '-/proc$ (none)' (/etc/aide/aide.conf.d/70_aide_proc_sys:5: '-/proc$ 0')
the two warnings are new since we are using a new filessystem specific rule. I had to tweak the loglevel of the test to get the test to pass. Please consider adding a possibility to give --path-check additional information, in this case about the file system types of / and /proc to silence those warnings.
