While a colleague was updating our AIDE config for RHEL 10 he got the following error:
WARNING: /etc/aide.conf:93: special characters in group names are DEPRECATED. Update your config and only use alphanumeric characters (A-Za-z0-9) (line: 'CONTENT_EX = sha512+ftype+p+u+g+n+acl+selinux+xattrs')
WARNING: /etc/aide.conf:126: special characters in group names are DEPRECATED. Update your config and only use alphanumeric characters (A-Za-z0-9) (line: 'CONTENT_NHGRI = sha1+ftype')
I fully understand wanting to limit chars (certainly to non-emoji's) for config file parsing.
But to make things a little easier to read, could "_" (underscore) be added back into the valid character list? We have switched to CamelCase for now but we use ALL_UPPERS in a bunch of different software configs and to my knowledge underscore is fairly common to allow.
I apologize if this is a FAQ or already rejected feature - I searched through the PR's and Issues here and did not see that this had already been requested.
