Closes the gap between the approved Loops Visual Contract (docs/design/opendesign/loops/, approved 2026-08-02, DESIGN-BACKLOG §4.1) and the shipped Loops UI. The previous spec landed the surfaces; many of the contract's locked review decisions (§2.1/§2.2), the collapse/section grammar, the icon budget, and several truthfulness rules never made it into production. This PR lands them across every Loops surface plus the shared primitives they depend on — reusing existing @compozy/ui primitives and domain composites throughout, rendering only daemon-backed data, and adding no helper copy.

Method

The change set was produced by a three-stage pipeline, with every stage's artifacts kept under .compozy/tasks/loops-ui-parity/ (untracked working set):

  1. Parity audit — six parallel design auditors compared each reference artboard against the implementation line by line (reference anchors ↔ file:line), classifying every finding's data truth as real (wired), integrable (API exists, unconsumed), or absent (forbidden to build). ~75 findings across P0–P2 plus per-surface do-not-regress and must-not-implement lists.
  2. Consolidated plan — findings sequenced into 8 file-disjoint work packets (A–H) with cross-report conflicts resolved by the authority chain (locked review decisions > production component identity > DESIGN-LESSONS/DESIGN.md > artboard pixels). The audits' two icon-map conflicts were resolved by the locked §2.1 budget: retry → RotateCcw, requeue → Redo2, reset-attempts → TimerReset, silence → VolumeOff, quarantine entry → ShieldAlert, cancel → Ban (Square retired with the deleted stop verb).
  3. Orchestrated implementation — packets implemented by cursor-agent workers (packet A sequential, B–G as a parallel wave on disjoint file sets, H last), each packet diff-reviewed against its audit findings before its commit. Review rejections that produced fix rounds: the LoopSection header nested interactive content inside the collapse trigger (restructured so the right slot is a sibling), and the OS attention bell shipped static loop rows (now gated on daemon existence probes). One hard cut applied post-review: the LoopRunSection compat alias was deleted rather than kept.

Changes by surface

Shared foundations (7f204c1)

  • lib/loop-story-icons.ts — the story/event icon registry extracted from the timeline, carrying the locked icon budget; attention-silence split from generic attention (VolumeOff).
  • lib/loop-node-kind-icons.ts — DSL kind → glyph registry (palette/canvas) plus the class-level map for the detail DAG (source → LogIn, fan-out → Split, gate → CheckCheck, control → GitMerge, action → Bot).
  • lib/loop-start-kind-icons.ts — closed start-kind vocabulary → origin glyphs (schedule/cli/manual/http/uds/native_tool/webhook/trigger/extension/network).
  • LoopSection — the collapsible main-column section shell (icon + eyebrow + gist + right slot + chevron on Collapsible), adopted by detail, run page, and the quarantine sheet. The header keeps interactive right-slot content outside the trigger (second icon-only trigger carries the chevron, tabIndex={-1} + aria-hidden).
  • LoopPageLede — gains the .dh closing hairline shared by the detail/catalog/run-form artboards.

@compozy/ui primitives (54ce025)

  • ConfirmDialog: optional 36px head icon well (icon/iconTone, tone tint + inset ring on the existing --radius-icon-well token), eyebrow rendered above DialogTitle (never inside the accessible name), footNote slot sharing the ruled footer row, body copy always muted — tone now paints the eyebrow and icon well only (the TONE_COPY description tinting is removed), and the warning tone maps to the tinted destructive confirm variant instead of solid accent.
  • Button: new destructive-solid variant (solid danger fill) reserved for irreversible verbs (Kill).
  • RadioCard: opt-in iconWellSize="lg" — the 28px tinted icon well from the modal RadioCard contract; default geometry untouched.
  • Stories + tests for every new prop/variant; all existing consumers compile unchanged (only-optional API).

Loops catalog (65a689f)

  • Badge budget enforced (L5, the audit's P0): the source and ∞ cap pills are cut from the row name line (kind already lives in the group header; the cap is a facts segment), the success-toned best pill is demoted to a plain metric segment, and category moves from a trail pill to the leading plain-text fact. The only chip left on a row is the state LoopStatusPill — which now survives every viewport width (state degrades last).
  • One facts line for both views — new LoopCatalogFacts renders the identical segment list in rows and cards (dots vs middots), ending with the last run's machine identity: MonoId + relative Time from last_run.{id,created_at} (previously fetched and never rendered — a done pill three weeks old was indistinguishable from three minutes old). Mono is reserved for that machine identity; the arbitrary first-segment mono styling is removed.
  • Group headers read server-owned facet counts (facets.kinds) with a loaded-length fallback, so a paginated roster no longer shows page-local counts against the server total.
  • Card descriptions clamp to two lines; the bespoke catalog lede folds into LoopPageLede; the zero-loop workspace keeps the page heading and toolbar with the single roster empty state (CatalogState remains only for no-workspace/error); the row Run button promotes to accent on hover (domain class — the shared outline variant is untouched).

Run form (eb43da0)

  • One section grammar: all five blocks (Already running, Inputs, Participation, Environment, Limits) render through LoopRailSection — previously four different shells on one page. Deliberate defaults: notice + Inputs open; Participation, Environment, Limits closed with truthful gists (N required · M optional, Local/Live · <strategy>, Loop default/worktree · <ref>/directory · <path>, limits summary).
  • The designed required-input error state is now reachable by pointer: Dry run stays clickable while the form is invalid and paints the inline FieldError without firing a request (Start run stays disabled — contract-correct). The canonical suite asserts the corrected behavior, keeping the "no run created when blank" invariant.
  • Input names render in mono with RequiredMark; type markers lose the badge fill (plain faint mono); the limits body becomes the limrow hairline list matching the detail rail, with the policy select as the last row; the action bar collapses to one three-state slot (Info + dry-run sentence · missing-input message naming the field when single · "Plan rendered") with FlaskConical on Dry run and Spinner busy states driven by pendingKind.
  • The cross-domain NetworkParticipationFields prose was deliberately left untouched (flagged for the network owner instead of forked).

Loop detail + node inventories (f1e91fc)

  • Detail main sections (Contract / Body / Recent runs) adopt LoopSection with ScrollText/Workflow/History; the five rail cards gain their leading icons; the destructive Delete gains its separator + Trash2.
  • Gate criteria render as icon + plain text from the closed vocabulary (Bot agent-judge · Terminal command · UserCheck human) instead of an 88px badge box; DAG nodes gain class-identity glyphs with neutral class labels (the warning tint on gate labels — color encoding a constant — is removed) and ArrowRight connectors; declared start kinds collapse from a chip strip to one mono line.
  • Untruthful chrome deleted: the hardcoded Cost (USD) — display-only limits row (no backing field) and the inventory's client-side age sort (listLoopNodes has no sort param; the control re-sorted merged pages and lied about population ordering) are gone end-to-end — rows render in server order.
  • The inventory recomposes on ListingToolbar (state pills + loop select + a new run filter select writing nodes_run + ViewToggle), leads every row/card with its tinted state glyph from the shared registry, gains the Rows|Cards view contract (parseListingView, card = glyph + name + one state pill + two-line reason clamp + mono foot), per-state empty icons with the filter-aware copy kept verbatim, and replace: true navigation so Back doesn't walk through every tab switch.
  • OS attention bell: new loop-node rows ("waiting on you" / "needing attention") deep-linking to /loop-runs?nodes=…, rendered only when a workspace-scoped limit: 1 existence probe returns an item — no counts anywhere (the paged route has no totals; a number would be a completeness lie), no badge on the bell trigger, deriveAttentionRows stays pure.

Loop editor (b17c0df)

  • Node card rebuilt to the contract anatomy: 188px card, 24px neutral icon tile whose kind glyph carries identity, node id + right-aligned class label head, line-soft divider only when a body exists, and a PropertyRow kv body projected per kind by the new lib/loop-node-card-rows.ts — 2–4 rows from declared DSL fields only (never placeholders, never the implicit on_error → quarantine runtime default), including the danger-tinted on_error row only when declared. Fan-out chips and the environment readout (authorized delta VC-31..35) survive the rebuild.
  • Palette: the "Kinds are ToolIDs…" explainer note card is deleted (L11 — the concept already lives in the point-of-use hints); rows gain per-kind identity icons in 16px tiles, replacing the misleading universal GripVertical.
  • Connection handles become the 7×20 tab nubs (outer corners 2px, width grows on card hover); selection ring weight goes to the specified 1.75px; xyflow chrome (--xy-* background/edge/handle) derives from tokens.css with 1.5 edge strokes and no arrowheads.
  • Inspector folds share the new LoopEditorFold (rotating chevron disclosure — previously bare <details> with no affordance); FoldFieldSpec.defaultOpen seeds the reliability fold and wait_expiry open so the lifecycle envelope is visible at rest; both rail lanes unify on Field/FieldLabel/RequiredMark (deleting the hand-rolled FieldSpecLabel).
  • Reveal node now moves the viewport (setCenter via a revealSeq signal — the store stays free of flow-instance handles); the version pill states read-only sources (vN · built-in, neutral tone) instead of claiming published; the publish-rejected strip restores the 422 · machine prefix and renders its inline issue list only when the dock is stale (structuralRevision !== event.revision), otherwise deferring to the dock; the body grid gains the reference breakpoints (170/320 below 1280px, palette hidden below 1024px).

Run page (e49a9ab)

  • Section anatomy landed everywhere: every main-column section is a collapsible LoopSection with its fixed concept icon (Bell Needs you · Gauge Progress · Activity Happening now · History What happened · Hourglass Waiting · TriangleAlert Needs attention · CircleSlash Why it stopped) and truthful count gists.
  • Parked lanes untangled (the audit's P0): buildNodeNowLines no longer emits waiting/quarantined — "Happening now" holds only working lanes, waits render exactly once in the Waiting panel, and quarantine surfaces above the fold in the Needs-you region: a neutral panelbox (locked fix ci(release): Release v0.0.4 #12 — the warning glyph is the only color, replacing the double full-tint stack) with an "Open entry" row per quarantined lane, shown for needs-approval or any quarantine.
  • Terminal beats completed (state-coverage): a canceled run now draws its CircleSlash "Run canceled" story row and a killed run its danger Zap "Run killed" row, keyed on the real cause (operator_cancel/operator_kill); the dead operator_stop branch and the stopped/Square icon are retired with the deleted verb.
  • The story timeline folds older generations behind Generation N · n events triggers (newest stays flat; the #loop-generation-<n> anchor forces its group open so the Best-result link still lands); the progress bar gains the quarantined segment state (danger tint + danger inset ring, distinct from info-tinted parked); approval waits render the real escalation ladder strip (step <cursor> + next escalation <relative> from escalation_cursor/next_escalation_at — and the ladder sentence that described invisible state is cut when the strip can't render); event waits state their expect condition in the micro trail and promote Resume with payload… when the wait is intervention_required.
  • Subhead gains Started by <origin> and Round N of M (cap-gated); the breadcrumb inserts the loop crumb; rail eyebrows gain Coins/Info glyphs and non-zero wait counts become links scoped nodes=<state>&nodes_run=<runId>; 2+ attention flags render as the 2-up cardpair with an inventory link; parked micro trails carry fan-out item identity (nodeId[item] · gen N); "What happens next" drops its section wrapper (quiet note + Route glyph); Inspect keeps a single entry point (rail foot); the missing S8 mixed-parked state gains its ParkedProgress fixture + story.

Node control dialogs + quarantine sheet (9a694ff)

  • Deterministic answers render calm (the audit's P0): the full LoopControlAnswer (tone/title/detail/micro) now reaches the dialog and renders as a tone-true Alert in the body — node_not_paused, run_terminal, already_decided etc. read as information, never as the hard-coded red failure; the danger error slot is reserved for genuine transport failures (run-control errors now carry the typed {code, details} conflict envelope too, via reasonEnvelope shared in loops-api-errors).
  • All seven dialogs gain their verb icon wells through the ConfirmDialog API (neutral pause/cancel-run · accent resume/requeue/wait-resume · danger kill) with eyebrows outside the accessible name and the machine micro trail moved to the footer note slot; confirms and both sheets adopt sm:max-w-(--width-modal-sm) (killing the sm:max-w-160/sm:max-w-[560px] literals); the escalation ladder is restored at the buttons — cancel = tinted destructive, kill = destructive-solid.
  • The pause dialog pairs the 28px RadioCard wells (Hourglass drain / Ban cancel) and its trail reflects the selected mode (mode: drain / mode: cancel); pause and requeue gain an optional reason textarea threaded into the generated request bodies (reason? existed on the contracts, stored as provenance) and surfaced on the sheet's episode boundary; wait-resume renders the wait's expect shape as the hint with client-side JSON validation disabling the confirm (daemon stays final authority); confirm state strips append the attention clause + last evidence <relative> for flagged nodes and next <relative> on retrying.
  • The quarantine sheet chain rebuilds on the canonical Timeline/TimelineEvent (L10 — spine, tone-ringed dots, glyphs, mono trails now carrying the attempt started → ended span) with spine-aligned episode dividers; the footer restores the gated Cancel verb (locked §2.1) beside primary Requeue…; the requeue confirm mounts inside the sheet's dialog tree (matching the story and the reference z-stack) instead of a sibling modal; the hint card re-chromes to the quiet note (danger stays the sheet's only tone); Info/History sections become collapsible with count gists (ListOrdered/Terminal/Route sections were deliberately not added — their content is §4-forbidden); the quarantined tile shows a formatted absolute time instead of the raw ISO string; the menu Cancel gains its ellipsis; the run cancel/kill note states the real in-flight shape (non-zero counts only).

Deliberately NOT implemented (truthful-UI / scope gates)

Everything the audits classified absent stays out, notably: synced/edited/author stamps, run-form digest + input datalists, version-history rows, avg-generations/median-duration tiles, inventory/bell counts (paged routes publish no totals), the catalog node-state signal row (needs a daemon-side rollup — recorded as a backend gap), attempt ledgers outside quarantine, applied-backoff values, named ladder steps, parked-time arithmetic, "active"-clock relabeling, wait event names, breaker-state readouts, the death/resume row, the sheet's "Last diagnostic"/"View input"/"After a requeue" sections, on_error as a connectable port, and every piece of the reference's fictional story content. The editor Start-authoring lane stays out (ship-gated on Spec 3 per DESIGN-BACKLOG §5); configure and runs-history remain archived (_done seam). No explainer cards or helper copy were added anywhere.

Verification

  • make gate-full (full monorepo verify): pass, evidence record full pass CURRENT finished=2026-08-15T02:25:59Z fingerprint=abac1d54…. A first run failed on a golangci-lint 10-minute timeout under machine contention (another worktree's verify queued on the shared lock; zero Go changed in this branch); the uncontended rerun passed.
  • Final scoped suites: 599 web test files (4920 tests) + 130 @compozy/ui files (656 tests) green; make bun-lint zero warnings across 4763 files.
  • Deslop pass over the full 149-file diff: zero as any, zero lint suppressions, zero defensive catch blocks, zero line-comment noise.
  • Behavior changes ride updated canonical suites (dry-run error path, icon budget, sort deletion, attention probes, canceled/killed beats, nested requeue confirm), never weakened ones.

QA tracker impact

Six new content-addressed scenarios (LP-web-catalog-badge-budget, LP-web-run-form-section-grammar, LP-web-detail-inventory-contract, LP-web-run-page-section-grammar, LP-web-node-dialog-modal-contract, LP-web-attention-loop-rows) plus resets on the three reshaped editor scenarios (ET-web-loop-editor-{node-truncate,sidebar-tabs,topbar}). All nine are recorded blocked-verify: the walk requires a seeded lifecycle lab (quarantine episodes, open waits, attention flags, cancel/kill) and is deferred to the next QA cycle per tracker precedent, with the unit/component/story evidence cited in each file. Rendered reference/implementation screenshot bundles were likewise not produced in this pass — parity was verified at source level (reference anchors ↔ file:line) by the audit + review pipeline.

Compozy Impact Audit

  • Native tools: no impact — no compozy__* IDs, toolsets, descriptors, schemas, digests, or capability gates changed; the web UI consumes already-generated request bodies (reason?, expect) and existing routes.
  • Extensibility and hooks: no impact — no extensions, hooks, skills/capabilities, tools/resources, registries, bridge SDKs, MCP surfaces, or config.toml keys changed (checked per packet).
  • Workspace data isolation: no impact — presentation over existing workspace-scoped reads (/loops, /loop-runs, /loop-nodes); the new attention probes reuse the workspace-scoped loop-nodes list with limit: 1; no new data, cache path, or SSE surface.
  • Official Compozy skill: no impact — no public tool ID, CLI path, hook event, capability, or run semantics changed (skills/compozy/ checked).

Follow-ups

  1. Seeded QA-lab walk of the nine blocked-verify scenarios (next QA cycle or on demand).
  2. Optional rendered visual-contract bundles (eng-ui-screenshot) against the artboards.
  3. Backend gap recorded by the catalog audit: a per-loop node-state rollup on LoopSummary would unlock the designed row-level state signal truthfully.

Extract the story icon map into lib/loop-story-icons.ts and apply the
locked DESIGN-BACKLOG §2.1 icon budget (retry=RotateCcw, requeue=Redo2,
reset-attempts=TimerReset, silence=VolumeOff, entry=ShieldAlert,
cancel=Ban). Add DSL kind/class and start-kind icon registries, the
LoopSection collapsible main-column shell, and the .dh closing hairline
on LoopPageLede.

Modal-system alignment for ConfirmDialog: 36px tone-ringed head icon
well, eyebrow rendered outside the accessible name, footNote slot in the
ruled footer, body copy always muted (tone paints eyebrow + well only),
warning tone maps to the tinted destructive confirm. Adds the
destructive-solid button variant reserved for irreversible verbs and an
opt-in 28px RadioCard icon well.

One collapsible section shell (LoopRailSection) across all five blocks
with truthful gists (input counts, participation, environment, limits),
the limits body as the limrow list, mono field identities with
RequiredMark, de-badged type markers, a single three-state action bar
(FlaskConical dry run + spinner busy states), and a pointer-reachable
required-input error: Dry run stays clickable while invalid and paints
the inline field error without creating a run.

Cut the source and cap pills, demote best to a plain metric segment,
lead the shared facts with category, and render one identical facts list
in both views through the new LoopCatalogFacts (mono reserved for the
last-run MonoId + Time identity). Group headers read server-owned facet
counts with a loaded-length fallback, the status pill survives every
width, the bespoke lede folds into LoopPageLede, the zero-loop roster
keeps the page heading, and the run button hover promotes to accent.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <[email protected]>
Node cards adopt the 188px head/body anatomy: 24px kind-icon tile,
right-aligned class label, PropertyRow kv body projected per kind from
declared DSL fields only (loop-node-card-rows), a divider only when a
body exists, and a danger on_error row only when declared. Palette drops
the explainer note card and gains per-kind identity icons; handles
become 7x20 tab nubs; folds share LoopEditorFold with rotating chevrons
and reliability/wait-expiry open by default; Reveal node centers the
viewport via a revealSeq signal; the version pill states read-only
sources; the publish-rejected strip restores the 422 prefix and defers
to the dock unless stale; field labels unify on Field/RequiredMark;
xyflow chrome derives from tokens with 1.5 edge strokes and a 1.75px
selection ring; the body grid gains the reference breakpoints.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <[email protected]>
Every main-column section adopts LoopSection (fixed concept icons,
truthful count gists, collapse); the now card carries only working
lanes while waits stay in Waiting and quarantine surfaces in a neutral
panelbox Needs-you region with an Open entry row; older generations
fold behind Generation N triggers that force open on anchor; canceled
and killed runs gain their terminal story beat keyed on cause (retiring
operator_stop and the Square glyph); the progress bar distinguishes
quarantined segments; approval waits render the real escalation cursor
strip; wait rows carry their expect condition and promote resume-wait
when intervention is required; the subhead states origin and round-of-
cap; the breadcrumb includes the loop; rail counts deep-link into the
inventory; attention flags render as a cardpair with an inventory link;
parked trails carry fan-out item identity; and the LoopRunSection alias
is hard-cut in favor of LoopSection.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <[email protected]>
Detail main sections adopt LoopSection with their concept icons, gate
criteria render as icon plus text from the closed vocabulary, DAG nodes
carry class identity glyphs with neutral labels and ArrowRight
connectors, start kinds collapse to one mono line, rail cards gain
their leading icons, and the placeholder cost row is deleted. The node
inventory drops the untruthful client-side sort, recomposes its toolbar
on ListingToolbar, leads rows and cards with tinted state glyphs, gains
the Rows|Cards view contract and a real run filter, per-state empty
icons, and replace-state navigation. The OS attention bell gains
loop-node rows gated on limit-1 existence probes (no counts anywhere),
and the LoopSection header is restructured so the right slot never
nests inside the collapse trigger.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to ddb57

The PR substantially changes Loops navigation, editor, attention, and quarantine behavior, but unresolved issues can hide actionable reasons, remove node creation on smaller screens, omit loop work from notification counts, or open the wrong quarantine entry. Merge should wait for these bounded workflow-correctness issues to be fixed or explicitly accepted.

Assert that the older generation row is folded.

The test proves the group summary renders, but it does not prove the fold hides "Older beat". That is the behavior under test. Add an assertion on the older row's visibility so a regression that renders every generation flat still fails.

     expect(screen.getByText("Newest beat")).toBeInTheDocument();
     expect(screen.getByTestId("loop-story-generation-1")).toHaveTextContent(
       "Generation 1 · 1 event"
     );
+    expect(screen.queryByText("Older beat")).not.toBeVisible();

Confirm which matcher fits the Collapsible primitive: if closed content is unmounted, use queryByText(...)).toBeNull() instead.

withDivider can never be true; remove the dead prop.

paired is cardCount >= 2. When paired is false, cardCount is at most 1, so index > 0 and groups.length + index > 0 are both false. 176-198: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Reuse the shared verb presentation for these footer actions.

The footer hardcodes the label Cancel and the Ban icon. The canonical registry names this verb Cancel… — the test in loop-run-page.test.tsx asserts LOOP_NODE_VERB_PRESENTATION.cancel.label is "Cancel…". The ellipsis signals that a confirm dialog follows, which is what onVerb("cancel", node) triggers. Read the label and icon from LOOP_NODE_VERB_PRESENTATION so the sheet stays consistent with the row actions and the control menu.

61-66: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

The startedBy contract accepts two shapes; narrow it to one.

Line 64 tests whether the value already begins with "Started by " and only then skips the prefix. The tests exercise both shapes: "The CLI" becomes "Started by The CLI", and "Started by hand" stays as is. loop-run-page-body.tsx passes the same startedBy value to LoopRunAboutRail, so two components read one string under different assumptions. Define the prop as the actor only, and let this component own the Started by prefix. That removes the string sniffing and keeps one meaning per prop.

Keep node creation available below lg.

Below lg, this aside is hidden and every palette button is unavailable. The supplied editor passes editor.addNode only to LoopEditorPalette. Add a compact toolbar or sidebar trigger for these viewports.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Preserve the full fan-out node identity.

Line 151 uses node.nodeId as the key. Line 177 sends only nodeId to onOpenQuarantine. Fan-out items can share a nodeId while differing by itemIndex and generation. This creates duplicate keys and prevents the receiver from opening the selected quarantine entry.

Pass a composite identity, or the complete LoopNodeLifecycle, to onOpenQuarantine. Use the same identity for the React key and test identifier. Update the page-level receiver in the same change.

Check attentionReason before returning.

Line 28 hides attention when attentionFlag is empty, even when attentionReason contains the active flag. Compute flag first, then return only when that combined value is empty.

Proposed fix

-  if (node.attentionFlag === "") return null;
   const flag = node.attentionReason || node.attentionFlag;
+  if (flag === "") return null;

Include loop-node rows in the notification count.

Line 105 appends loop-node rows, but deriveAttentionBadges and attentionCount only count sessions and tasks. When only loop nodes need attention, DesktopMenubar receives notifications={0} even though the bell contains actionable rows. Add loop-node presence to the badge or count model and cover both states in the attention-model tests.
