Summary

Production translation of the finished opendesign reference set at docs/design/opendesign/triggers/ (finals: trigger-detail.html agent · trigger-detail-loop.html · trigger-detail-webhook.html; labs: trigger-detail-states.html 8 states · trigger-vocabulary.html grammar; contract: DESIGN-NOTES.md).

The trigger detail page stops being a jobs inspector with the cron stripped out and becomes the rule page the design specifies: a plain-language sentence of what the trigger does, a labeled Enable switch opposite it (the only accent on the page), a When / If / Then card, a single-open Recent-runs accordion, a four-card rail, and an Inspect sheet for runtime internals. The shared AutomationDetailPanel is now jobs-only; triggers render through a dedicated component family.

Per DESIGN-NOTES, the job of the page: "See what this trigger watches, whether it is on, and whether the last fire worked — then enable, edit, or inspect. Not a scheduler. Not a job inspector with the cron stripped out."

Anatomy shipped

route chrome Triggers / {name} · Edit (dynamic only) + ··· overflow
page head Generated sentence · Enable switch opposite it
subhead Event pill · Workspace · Updated
main RULE (When / If / Then) · RECENT RUNS (single-open accordion)
rail Properties · Public delivery (webhook only) · Reliability · Identity
Inspect button + CLI hint under the cards
sheet Diagnostics tiles · Envelope JSON
  • Sentence (lib/trigger-sentence.ts): "When a session stops in checkout-api, if the stop reason is error, run summarizer." Verb rule enforced everywhere: agent target → run, loop target → start (sentence, pause line, delete dialog copy).
  • When splits on event family: observer/hook/ext/memory events render sentence + mono event pill; webhook adds the local POST /api/webhooks/{global|workspaces/{ws}}/{slug}--{wbh_id} endpoint row with copy button and a curl block carrying the daemon's real signing headers (X-Compozy-Webhook-Timestamp / -Signature / -Delivery-ID).
  • If renders filters as prose ("Stop reason is error") with the raw data.* path as a quiet sub-line; ≥2 keys render as AND'ed clauses; no filter reads "Any event of this kind".
  • Then splits on target_kind: agent → chip + collapsible Go-template prompt ({{ .Data.* }} vars as badges); loop → linked loop name + labeled mapping rows (← from event / = static). No prompt for loops, no LOOP accent pill, no JSON dump.
  • Recent runs: single-open accordion; each row = status pill (scheduled=warning · running/delegated=info · completed=success · failed=danger · canceled=neutral) + icon + meta + mono duration; drawer copy per status; Open session / Open loop run render only when the id exists — never disabled placeholders. Duration is computed client-side from started_at/ended_at only when both exist, otherwise —.
  • Rail: collapsible cards composed of PropertyRows — Properties (scope/event/target/source; webhook adds endpoint slug, webhook id + copy, signing-secret presence), Public delivery (webhook only — reuses GatewayIngressStatus + the canonical INGRESS_REACHABILITY_COPY), Reliability (retry strategy, fire limit), Identity (created + trigger id + copy). Rail foot: Inspect button + compozy automation triggers get CLI hint.
  • Inspect sheet: Sheet + LaneTabs with Diagnostics tiles (Id / Source / Scope / Kind / Target / Retry — webhook swaps Retry for Secret present) and an Envelope pane showing the create-flow sample activation envelope JSON with a copy affordance.
  • Sources: dynamic reads "You created this" and gets Edit/Delete; config/package render the dashed lockbar + config.toml quiet note, hide Edit/Delete entirely (not disabled), and keep the enable switch working — matching the daemon's PATCH gating exactly.
  • States (all 8 from the lab): disabled (pause line), enable-pending (aria-busy, "Enabling…", track keeps previous state — no optimistic flip), config/package lock, runs empty (count chip omitted at zero), runs load error + retry, page 503 / workspace mismatch / gone (framed empties with exact copy), loading skeleton that preserves layout width.

Daemon truth (what this page will not render)

The reference's gating table is enforced — grounded in internal/automation schemas and routes:

Control Gate
Enable switch PATCH /api/automation/triggers/{id} { enabled } — all sources
Edit / Delete Dynamic source only; config/package enable-only
Recent runs GET /api/automation/triggers/{id}/runs?limit=10
Open session / loop run Only when session_id / loop_run_id exists on the run
Run now Does not exist for triggers (jobs-only verb) — never rendered
Schedule / next run Jobs-only — never rendered
Signing secret webhook_secret_present only — the value (and hash) never reach the DOM
Target kind Immutable after create

Also deliberately absent because no API backs them: per-run duration without both timestamps, success-rate/trend charts, delivery replay, payload inspection, fire-limit consumption meters, run pagination, run cancel.

Changes

New component family — web/src/systems/automation/components/trigger-detail/ (13 files, ~1.2k lines, every file < 500):
trigger-detail-panel.tsx (244, orchestrator + topbar publication) · trigger-detail-rail.tsx (200) · trigger-run-list.tsx (198) · trigger-rule-then.tsx (162) · trigger-detail-head.tsx (146) · trigger-inspect-sheet.tsx (115) · trigger-rule-card.tsx (112) · trigger-detail-actions.tsx (103) · trigger-detail-states.tsx (66) · trigger-detail-section.tsx (56) · trigger-detail-lock.tsx (37) · trigger-webhook-endpoint.tsx (33) · trigger-value-badge.tsx (22)

New lib modules — trigger-sentence.ts (243: sentence/pause/When/If prose built on the existing trigger-catalog vocabulary) · trigger-run-model.ts (174: run row/drawer view model, id-gated links) · trigger-inspect-model.ts (123: diagnostics tiles + sample envelope) · automation-formatters.ts +33.

Shared panel split (zero-legacy) — automation-detail-panel.tsx 490→466 lines and jobs-only; automation-detail-sections.tsx 144→51 (trigger sections removed); automation-detail-topbar-actions.tsx drops the trigger branch; deleted: automation-trigger-ingress-card.tsx, TriggerHookSection (~73 ln), and every trigger branch of the shared panel/sections/overflow. No compat shims.

Wiring — trigger-detail-location.tsx renders TriggerDetailPanel; use-automation-trigger-detail-page.ts gains inspect/disclosure state; topbar publication drops the ENABLED/DISABLED status pill (the page-head switch is the state control); Edit stays a route-chrome action (dynamic only) with Copy trigger id / Enable–Disable / Delete in overflow.

Stories & fixtures — route stories now cover agent, loop, webhook, and locked variants (triggers.stories.tsx +85) plus a component story for the Inspect sheet; MSW fixtures extend with agent-session.stopped, loop-target, and webhook triggers (+147 lines) with handlers for detail/runs.

Tests — new canonical suite __tests__/trigger-detail-panel.test.tsx (22 cases: sentence + verb rule, enable gating across sources incl. pending no-flip, lock mode hiding Edit/Delete, run-link id gating, webhook endpoint + curl, secret-presence-only assertion, ingress states, empty/error/503/mismatch states); the old shared-panel suite shrinks to its jobs half (515→~300). Full web suite green.

E2E — triggers-hardening.spec.ts, automation.spec.ts, selectors.ts, browser-artifact-session.ts updated for the new anatomy (enable via the page-head switch instead of the topbar/overflow toggle); the no-secret-leakage assertion is preserved.

Visual contract evidence

Visual Contract Mode ran against the three finals (rendered reference vs implementation, same viewport):

Row Reference Diff ratio Verdict
VC-01 trigger-detail.html (agent) 3.08% pass, 0 blocking divergences
VC-02 trigger-detail-loop.html 2.91% pass, 0 blocking divergences
VC-03 trigger-detail-webhook.html 4.02% pass, 0 blocking divergences

Residual ratio is placement context (live OS chrome vs artboard staging) and fixture text. Two real divergences were caught by the captures and fixed rather than rationalized: loop mapping values rendering as content-width chips instead of filled value fields, and the curl block rendering with a BASH caption + syntax color on a page whose rule is "color = state, never decoration". Bundle (side-by-side, diffs, per-row review, plus implementation-only captures of every designed state): .compozy/tasks/triggers-detail-redesign/evidence/visual/ (local evidence tree, not committed).

Authorized deltas (recorded in the bundle): host chrome + head actions live in the real route chrome, not a rebuilt 44px bar · enable switch is the page-head control and the topbar status pill is dropped · fixture vocabulary is the repo's own scenario, not the artboard's checkout-api story · Time renders absolute dates for months-old fixtures · delete keeps the production type-to-confirm dialog · the loop Built-in tag is not rendered (no runtime field backs it) · curl body is a placeholder while headers are the daemon-verified set · public URL renders via MonoId · envelope pane keeps a copy affordance.

Pre-existing platform finding (not fixed here)

Window-scoped Sheet enters at opacity: 0. The Inspect sheet mounts with correct geometry/stacking inside an OS window, but the motion enter transition never advances from initial="hidden" on the useOverlayContainer() non-null portal path of packages/ui/src/components/sheet.tsx. The identical probe against the shipped systems-settings-routes-sandbox--profile-sheet story reproduces it, and task-setup-sheet / loop-run-inspect-sheet / vault-secret-sheet compose the primitive the same way — so this predates and exceeds this PR. Playwright's toBeVisible() ignores opacity, which is why existing e2e never caught it. The same sheet portalled to document.body (component story) renders correctly. Evidence + repro script: .compozy/tasks/triggers-detail-redesign/evidence/visual/states/README.md. Fixing a shipped primitive across all its consumers is deliberately out of scope for this PR — it deserves its own change with a regression test across every sheet consumer.

QA tracker

  • docs/qa/scenarios/ET-web-trigger-detail-rule-page.md — added (untested): the redesigned detail surface contract.
  • docs/qa/scenarios/ET-web-jobs-triggers-catalog.md — reset to untested with a dated impact note; detail-surface expectations moved to the new file.
  • A scenario walk in an isolated QA lab (fresh COMPOZY_HOME, unique ports, daemon built from this branch, signed webhook fire) is running; verdicts + evidence will land as a follow-up commit on this branch.

Verification

  • make gate — pass (fingerprint 09c5723385f4…, js-web pass CURRENT).
  • bunx turbo run typecheck --filter=./web — clean (covers e2e/).
  • bunx turbo run test --filter=./web — full suite green (new 22-case trigger-detail suite included).
  • make bun-lint — 0 warnings, 0 errors (includes compozy-ui-reuse/no-shadow-ui-primitive, compozy-design-system/no-inline-eyebrow).
  • make gate-full — deferred to CI per request.

Compozy Impact Audit

  • Native tools: no impact — compozy__automation_triggers_* IDs, descriptors, schemas, and gates untouched; this is a read-surface presentation change over existing HTTP endpoints (GET/PATCH /api/automation/triggers/*, GET …/runs).
  • Extensibility and hooks: no impact — no extension surfaces, hook events, skills/capabilities, registries, or bridge SDKs change; config.toml keys untouched (config-source triggers render the same lock semantics the daemon enforces).
  • Workspace data isolation: no impact — reads go through the existing workspace-guarded query layer (automationMatchesActiveWorkspace preserved; workspace-mismatch state retained verbatim); no new data paths, caches, or SSE topics.
  • Official Compozy skill: no impact — no public behavior, tool IDs, CLI paths, or semantics change; skills/compozy/ unaffected.

Greptile Summary

The PR replaces the shared trigger inspector with a dedicated When/If/Then rule page and updates routes, tests, stories, and QA records.

  • Adds trigger-specific rule, run-history, rail, webhook, and Inspect-sheet components.
  • Keeps the shared automation detail panel focused on jobs.
  • Records browser QA as passed, but the referenced browser artifacts are not committed and the prior QA gate therefore remains unresolved.

Confidence Score: 4/5

The PR should not merge until durable evidence for the required trigger-detail browser walk and Inspect-sheet verification is committed or otherwise made available.

The affected scenarios now claim successful verification, but their browser artifacts are absent and the gate log is referenced only from the author's machine, leaving the required QA completion gate unresolved.

Test rejection of an incorrect trigger name.

Move topbar orchestration to the route.

TriggerDetailLoadedPanel calls useTopbarSlot, so this UI component mutates route chrome. Build the topbar configuration in TriggerDetailLocation and keep the panel presentational through props. As per coding guidelines, “UI components are pure and presentational; orchestration lives in pages/routes.”

Implement the required native span wrapper contract.

TriggerValueBadge must accept React.ComponentProps<"span">, merge className, and spread the remaining props onto the root <span> to support native attributes and React 19 ref props.

Apply the required native-root prop contract.

These components have a single native root. Define props from the matching React.ComponentProps<"..."> type, omit children where fixed children are required, merge className, and spread the remaining props onto the root. React 19 includes ref in these props.

P1 QA pass references absent artifacts

When this scenario's pass verdict is used to close the redesign, every listed browser artifact points to an absent repository path and the full-gate report points only to an author-local file, leaving the required browser walk and Inspect-sheet verification without durable review evidence. Commit the referenced artifacts or replace these entries with durable evidence available to reviewers.
