What & why

CompozyOS can now ingest Agent Plugins 1.0.0 as extensions without requiring a Compozy-specific manifest. A portable plugin can contribute skills plus local or remote MCP servers while retaining the existing extension lifecycle, trust, isolation, diagnostics, Marketplace, CLI, HTTP, UDS, native-tool, and Web management surfaces.

The delivery claim is intentionally limited to the provider paths proven end to end: Claude Code and Hermes. OpenClaw is documented as a known limitation because its current ACP bridge advertises session_mcp=false, so CompozyOS fails closed instead of pretending to deliver session MCP servers.

The external compatible-clients contribution is deliberately not part of this PR. It remains a follow-up owned by the user after the CompozyOS interoperability page is deployed.

What changed

  • Added strict Agent Plugins 1.0.0 manifest discovery and validation, including fixed-location skills and MCP configuration, closed schemas, deterministic diagnostics, native-manifest precedence, and safe rejection of unsupported components.
  • Synthesized portable skills and stdio/streamable-HTTP MCP servers into the canonical extension model, with absolute PLUGIN_ROOT and PLUGIN_DATA expansion, single-token stdio commands, package-root working directories, remote-header bindings, URL policy, and secret redaction.
  • Integrated portable plugins with install, update, enable, disable, remove, development overlays, managed reconciliation, runtime health, hosted MCP projection, package/data cleanup, and append-only global database migration 00065.
  • Exposed portable format, components, skipped diagnostics, fatal validation results, and runtime health consistently through CLI, HTTP, UDS, native tools, OpenAPI, generated Go contracts, and the TypeScript SDK.
  • Added Marketplace and Web support for Agent Plugin badges, installed management, inventory, trust handling, skipped-component diagnostics, mocks, stories, and browser coverage.
  • Published the Agent Plugins interoperability guide, install/manifest/secrets documentation, CLI reference updates, QA scenarios, and the matching official compozy skill guidance.

Release notes

Features

  • Ingest conformant Agent Plugins directly as CompozyOS extensions.
  • Project portable skills and local or remote MCP servers into supported provider sessions.
  • Manage portable plugins through the existing lifecycle and structured agent-facing surfaces.
  • Inspect format, inventory, skipped components, health, and validation failures in CLI, APIs, native tools, and Web.
  • Install Agent Plugins from the Marketplace with the normal trust and management flow.

Fixes and hardening

  • Corrected package-root containment and synthesized skill path projection.
  • Made fatal portable validation return a failing CLI exit status while warning-only validation remains successful.
  • Stabilized hosted MCP bootstrap, generation caching, required-tool reconciliation, and output schemas.
  • Aligned generated contracts, product naming, redaction behavior, and validation rendering.

Documentation

  • Added public interoperability, installation, manifest, secret-binding, and provider-boundary documentation.
  • Added a complete QA plan, durable scenarios, evidence artifacts, bug records, and the final run report.

How you verified it

  • make gate-full — PASS and CURRENT for fingerprint 0b7c07ddc83b306195be7f7b8458140dfff30de8; log: .cache/gate/logs/full-1786890237.log.
  • make test-e2e-runtime — PASS in the isolated QA lab.
  • make test-e2e-web — PASS in the isolated QA lab.
  • Agent Plugins conformance checklist — 8/8 observable requirements passed: evidence.
  • Provider delivery — Claude Code and Hermes both loaded the portable skill, invoked the local MCP tool, observed isolated package/data paths, wrote plugin data, and invoked the authenticated remote MCP tool. The raw matrix retains OpenClaw's unsupported session_mcp=false result: evidence.
  • One deep-review round covered the full branch. All 34 findings were resolved: 4 critical, 15 major, and 15 minor.
  • QA teardown completed with clean: true and no surviving daemon, provider, fixture, browser, tmux, or watcher processes.

QA status

  • 10/10 scenarios reached a terminal result: 8 pass (including one disclosed provider limitation), 2 blocked-verify, 0 untested, and 0 fail.
  • Three production defects found during QA were fixed and re-walked: path projection, fatal validation exit status, and hosted MCP bootstrap/projection.
  • OpenClaw session-MCP delivery is an accepted limitation and is outside this PR's provider claim.
  • Marketplace acquisition remains blocked-verify because the synthetic release asset returned 404; the browser flow and installed state were verified without weakening production HTTPS or SSRF protections.
  • The autonomous Northstar Pay kickoff/task-role journey remains blocked-verify; it was not substituted with the separate provider-delivery walk.
  • One adjacent daemon-stop timeout remains open; manifest teardown was reliable and clean.
  • Full details: QA run report.

Extension settings and lifecycle management:

Impact

  • Runtime and storage: adds portable manifest ingestion, resource projection, runtime health, managed reconciliation, plugin data ownership, and append-only migration 00065.
  • CLI and agent management: existing extension verbs now install, validate, inspect, manage, and remove Agent Plugins with structured output; native extension tools expose the same format and diagnostics.
  • HTTP, UDS, OpenAPI, and SDKs: extension contracts include portable format/components, skipped diagnostics, and health details; generated Go and TypeScript contracts were refreshed.
  • Web and Marketplace: Agent Plugin entries show their format, trust flow, installed state, inventory, and skipped components through reused design-system primitives.
  • Configuration: no new or deprecated config.toml key. Remote MCP credentials use the existing extension secret-binding lifecycle.
  • Documentation: public interoperability and extension docs plus the official Compozy skill now state the same Claude Code/Hermes evidence boundary and OpenClaw limitation.

Compozy Impact Audit

  • Native tools: extension install, validate, enable, info, list, and inventory tools now represent portable format, components, diagnostics, fatality, and health through their existing IDs and capability gates; schemas and generated catalogs were updated and tested.
  • Extensibility and hooks: portable skills/MCP servers integrate through the canonical extension registries, resource reconciliation, hosted MCP projection, secret bindings, lifecycle, and Marketplace. No new hook, bridge SDK, sidecar API, or config.toml key was introduced.
  • Workspace data isolation: installed package bytes and plugin data remain instance-scoped, development overlays remain workspace-scoped, and provider tool projection remains session-scoped. Workspace IDs were exercised across inventories, caches, events, reloads, and provider sessions without cross-workspace leakage.
  • Official Compozy skill: skills/compozy/references/extensions.md documents portable install, validation, inventory, secret headers, lifecycle, and the exact provider boundary delivered here.

Agent co-write

Codex implemented and reviewed the workstream. Claude Opus implemented the task explicitly typed as frontend in plan mode; Codex then reviewed, corrected, and verified that contribution against the task contract and repository gates.

  • make gate / make gate-full passes
  • Behavior changes have automated tests and isolated end-to-end QA
  • Agent co-write is named above and its output was independently reviewed and verified

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added support for Agent Plugin packages, including manifest validation, skills, MCP servers, diagnostics, and installation workflows.
    • Added extension format indicators and validation reports across CLI, API, marketplace, and web interfaces.
    • Added remote MCP header bindings, secure URL/header validation, and MCP runtime health reporting.
    • Added extension data cleanup, quarantine reporting, and recovery for interrupted installations.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved error classification, redaction, lifecycle isolation, and transport consistency.
    • Preserved diagnostic details for skipped or unhealthy extension components.

Merge Risk: 🔴 Critical · up to 20cd3

This PR adds Agent Plugin ingestion and lifecycle support, but the current head still contains a TypeScript compilation blocker plus unresolved validation, path-resolution, rollback-diagnostics, and error-contract issues that can prevent builds or misreport plugin state; merge should be blocked until these are fixed.

Exercise the HTTP transport for the format contract.

This test invokes MarketplaceSearch directly. It does not assert an HTTP status or serialized response body. Add endpoint requests that assert 200 OK and the JSON format value for each format-resolution case.

As per coding guidelines and path instructions, *_test.go tests require status-code and body assertions.

Verify inventory recovery after a successful health observation.

The test clears health state and checks only payloadFromExtension. It does not call Inventory again. A stale diagnostic in the inventory response would pass this test.

Add a second Inventory call after RecordSuccess and assert that Diagnostics is empty.

Handle templates in HTTP MCP fields

decl.URL and decl.Headers retain template text. No later stage resolves templates in Headers; runtime resolution applies only to SecretHeaders populated by extension secret bindings.

Resolve supported templates in decl.URL and non-secret decl.Headers, or reject unsupported templates during manifest validation. Use the extension secret-binding path for sensitive headers.

server.Validate correctly rejects headers on stdio servers.
