path and its two-iteration request loop so it reads or polls the run immediately
after DELETE and asserts LoopRunStatusCanceled before issuing either public
cancellation request. Split the boolean cases into separate t.Run subtests named
with the required “Should...” pattern, with each subtest asserting the expected
behavior outcome.
In `@internal/loop/goal/executor.go`:
- Around line 197-199: Update the checkpoint adoption error path in the executor
around bindCheckpoint so a newly run-owned binding is rolled back when adoption
fails: close the exact managed binding and enqueue session cleanup before
returning the original error. Preserve existing behavior for bindings not
created by this run and ensure cleanup targets the binding created by
BindActionSession.
In `@internal/session/manager_delete_staging.go`:
- Around line 317-318: Move the stopSessionGoals call out of the delete-staging
flow in the session deletion logic. Perform Goal cancellation only after catalog
deletion has committed, preserving rollback safety when directory, attachment,
or catalog staging fails; otherwise add an explicit compensating operation that
restores the canceled Goal state.
In `@internal/session/manager_stop_finalization.go`:
- Line 98: Update finishStoppedPersistence and the stop-session finalization
flow so Goal cancellation is persisted as a pending durable action before
clearing the pending-stop marker, recovery receipt, or active session. Ensure
recovery retries stopSessionGoals until Goal lookup and CancelRun succeed,
including when the session is already StateStopped, and only clears the pending
action after successful cancellation.

- Around line 53-54: Update the table-driven mutation checks around
db.BindCheckpoint to include the expected ownership error class or Goal reason
code for every invalid binding case. Replace the err == nil-only assertion with
the established ErrorIs, ErrorAs, or reason-code helper, ensuring each of the
eight cases verifies the specific ownership failure.
In `@internal/store/globaldb/queries/goal_core.sql`:
- Around line 26-27: Update fakeExecutorStore.BindCheckpoint to reset all
binding-scoped recovery, context, compaction, and turn state when SessionID,
BindingHandle, or BindingEpoch changes, including the fields used by compaction
and turn readers for reseed, escalation, and continuation decisions. Preserve
the existing state for exact same-binding replay, and ensure binding_epoch is
updated consistently with the new binding identity.

Problem and result
Closes #595.
Starting a session's own Goal could immediately fail context validation while the ordinary prompt kept working. The Goal strip still reported an active Run with zero turns, Tasks showed failed or quarantined work, and session supervision raised stale Loop attention. Explicitly stopping or removing the session also left its Goal alive, making session-based cancellation unusable after removal.
This change adopts the active binding before the first context observation, repairs pinned context reads, derives bounded Loop activity from durable execution evidence, and routes explicit session stop/removal through canonical Run cancellation. Terminal Run state and quarantine now govern the Goal projection. Historical attempts remain inspectable.
Evidenced root causes
BindingEpoch=0.recordContextUsagecombined that old checkpoint epoch with the new binding's session and handle. The first context observation therefore failed before prompt preparation could advance the checkpoint. A real SQLite/managed-runtime regression reproduced the exact zero epoch; the old executor fake had hidden it by mutating the checkpoint during binding.UsageAtSequencesupplied bothAfterSequenceandBeforeSequence, which the session event store rejects. The corrected forward, one-result query still requires the exact pinned sequence; missing or non-usage events remain unknown.Implementation and compatibility
make codegen.blockedwithnode_quarantined.docs/_memory/change-impact.mdrecord and QA report. No public DTO shape, tool ID, configuration key, hook, extension SDK, or database schema changes. Immutable profile/workspace scoping remains in place. Catalog Loop origin lineage remains informational. Window-only dismissal, stream disconnect, and daemon shutdown do not acquire Goal cancellation semantics. A historical orphan can still be canceled through
compozy loop cancel --run-id ...without its missing session.Verification
bunx turbo run typecheck build --filter=@compozy/site.clean: true.At the author’s request, complete delivery gates run in CI. Before local gates were stopped, code generation, lint, and the full daemon race suite passed; the global database race suite was interrupted and is not claimed as passed. Current-head CI results will be updated after completion.
Remaining validation boundary
A real structured clarification correctly surfaced waiting-for-input. Execution approval review blocked the synthetic operator answer, so that answer-and-continue step is not claimed as validated. No alternate answer path was used; the agent did not guess and paused its Goal after the question expired. The fixture-backed public E2E approval-recovery flow did pass. The focused lab does not claim a full multi-agent Network sweep, live-provider Linux dogfooding, or Electron execution.
