   I succeeded to reproduce this problem under those conditions.

   • DPI scaling > 100%
   • system default font size > 9
     Changed the font size of message box by Window Color and Appearance

   The cause of this problem is that the height of background image are fixed.
   The search box has an background image consists borders and magnifying glass icon. The width of image can be easily adjusted to width of the search box. But height of image can not easily adjusted because a magnifying glass icon will be distorted :-(

   WORKAROUND:
   If you don't care about design of the search box, remove style="Search.entry" argument from nvpy/view.py:1299.

   # Before
   self.search_entry = TriggeredcompleteEntry(search_frame, self.config.case_sensitive, textvariable=self.search_entry_var, style="Search.entry")
   # After
   self.search_entry = TriggeredcompleteEntry(search_frame, self.config.case_sensitive, textvariable=self.search_entry_var)
   

   I will fix this problem at a later date.
