What to build

A later UI/UX pass on Settings → Documents. Favorites already shipped (083acad3f). Do not redo Favorite persist, the ⋮ action, or pin-first ordering.

Walk the live list and grid after Favorites. Fix only what still fails:

  • Grid preview is a generic file icon on a large base-200 band. Low signal. Thumbnails stay out of scope unless the maintainer reopens that.
  • Grid footer (avatars + date + ⋮) crowds on narrow cards.
  • List hides the date on small screens; grid always shows it.
  • Grid has no arrow-key roving; list does.
  • Create document is empty-state only.
  • Lock/eye at /50 ink — check contrast on light and dark.

Acceptance criteria

  • Empty grid preview is quieter or more useful without screenshot thumbnails.
  • Grid footer does not crowd on a two-column narrow card.
  • Date visibility is consistent between list and grid, or the difference is intentional and documented.
  • Grid has keyboard roving that matches the list, or the gap is documented as accepted.
  • Create document stays empty-state only, or the maintainer asks for a toolbar control.
  • Lock/eye contrast meets the design-system bar on light and dark.

Out of scope

  • Favorite persist, ⋮ Favorite/Unfavorite, pin-first ordering, or a toolbar star.
  • Chat Bookmark or message Pin.
  • Time-bucket headers, screenshot thumbnails, Last opened sort.

    Shipped on origin/main. The six boxes below match live Settings → Documents. This issue body is stale: it still describes the pre-paper grid.

    What landed

    • 165e07699 — first-page paper (DocumentGridPreview) and Last opened.
    • d30cf3c6d — list and Trash rows use LuFileText, not paper.

    Favorites stay in 083acad3f (#173). This close does not redo Favorite persist, the ⋮ action, or pin-first order.

    Acceptance

    • Empty grid preview is quieter without screenshot thumbnails. Paper paints React text from preview JSON. { heading: null, lines: [] } shows “Empty document”. SQL NULL stays a blank sheet. No screenshot farm.
    • Grid footer does not crowd on a two-column card. Date sits under the title. Footer is members cluster + ⋮ only. Solo docs hide the cluster.
    • Date visibility is consistent, and the difference is documented. List moves the date under the title below sm and keeps a trailing column on sm+. Grid always puts the date under the title. Catalog states both.
    • Grid keyboard roving matches the list. Same Up / Down / Home / End handler. No Left / Right. Catalog records that as accepted.
    • Create document stays empty-state only. No toolbar Create.
    • Lock / eye ink meets the design-system bar. Both surfaces use text-base-content/60 with labels, not /50.

    Last opened and Date buckets shipped with the paper work. The original “Out of scope” line for those two is outdated. Screenshot thumbs and toolbar Create stay out.

    Left as accepted

    • No 2D grid arrows.
    • Create stays empty-state only.
    • Catalog class wording (justify-between vs ml-auto) is doc tidy, not a product gap.
