We need to eventually switch this to some ticketing system to preserve responses and let more people in. GNOME is running a FreeScout instance so maybe that.

I don't know much about the infra side of things but took a quick look at FreeScout and it seems like a good option indeed, and it'll probably scale better in the future.

I guess the helpdesk stuff from gitlab didn't hit the mark?

I don't know if it did or not for GNOME (apparently not?) but I guess for Flathub/Flatpak it wouldn't matter because it's GitHub right now, and might move to Forgejo later, and I guess neither have any kind of helpdesk

Flathub is moving to Forgejo. I wasn't aware of Flatpak doing that (and it might not even make sense).

There have been low-stakes/low-bandwidth talks in the past about moving Flatpak and/or XDP back to FreeDesktop but nothing concrete has really been decided so far.

I'm aware of those, that's why I wondered, if gitlabs helpdesk failed validation for some reason.

Aha :) I see, well I think Bart may have a better answer to this as I've never used the helpdesk from GitLab.

GitLab's one is too fiddle, and required some custom code to work correctly with custom aliases.

LGTM. I think the Covenant version is a little more complete than what was here until now so that's a plus.
