"is not authorized" message in flutter doctor doesn't fit the pretty pattern #13047

Closed

Description

@Hixie

When you have an unauthorized device and run "flutter doctor", it doesn't look pretty:

$ flutter doctor
[✓] Flutter (on Linux, locale en_US.UTF-8, channel master)
    • Flutter at /usr/local/google/home/ianh/dev/flutter
    • Framework revision c97fc2063f (16 minutes ago), 2017-11-16 10:22:50 -0800
    • Engine revision 4fcb19258a
    • Tools Dart version 1.25.0-dev.11.0

[✓] Android toolchain - develop for Android devices (Android SDK 26.0.0)
    • Android SDK at /usr/local/google/home/ianh/Android/Sdk
    • Platform android-26, build-tools 26.0.0
    • Java binary at: /usr/local/google/home/ianh/bin/android-studio/jre/bin/java
    • Java version OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_112-release-b06)

[✓] Android Studio (version 2.3)
    • Android Studio at /usr/local/google/home/ianh/bin/android-studio
    • Java version OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_112-release-b06)

Device 06af757e0069aede is not authorized.
You might need to check your device for an authorization dialog.
[✓] Connected devices
    • Pixel 2 XL • 709KPNY0045135 • android-arm • Android 8.0.0 (API 26)

I would have expected something more like:

[?] Connected devices
    • Pixel 2 XL • 709KPNY0045135 • android-arm • Android 8.0.0 (API 26)
    • Unauthorized device 06af757e0069aede • Check your device for a message

    Tested on 1.12. Now I see:

    List of devices attached
    99101FFAZ003UD	unauthorized

    H rischpater0:/tmp
    $ flutter doctor
    Doctor summary (to see all details, run flutter doctor -v):
    [✓] Flutter (Channel stable, v1.12.13+hotfix.5, on Linux, locale en_US.UTF-8)
    [✓] Android toolchain - develop for Android devices (Android SDK version 28.0.3)
    [✓] Android Studio (version 3.5)
    [✓] VS Code (version 1.41.0)
    [!] Connected device

    ! Doctor found issues in 1 category.
    H rischpater0:/tmp

    flutter doctor -v includes:

    [!] Connected device
        • Device 99101FFAZ003UD is not authorized.
          You might need to check your device for an authorization dialog.

    Which I think satisfies the purpose of this bug, so I'll close this.
