Is there an existing issue for this?

Steps to reproduce

  1. tap on textfield
  2. type ' char on keyboard

Expected results

  1. typing ' char on keyboard
  2. appear ' char on textfield

Actual results

  1. typing ' char on keyboard
  2. switch alphabetic keyboard
  3. texfield don't accept 'char

    I also can reproduce this issue with my device iPhone 7, iOS 15.7.2 on the latest Flutter stable/master channels. The issue doesn't happen on Android.

    Yeah, it should be done completely on the framework side. Don't think this is iOS specific.

    The fyi-framework label is redundant with the team-framework label.
    The triaged-ios label is irrelevant if there is no team-ios label or fyi-ios label.

    iOS doesn't insert the usual single quote character when the user hits that key, it inserts special directional versions. So instead of ' you get either ‘ or ’ (same for double quotes, you type " but get “ or ”).

    So @oscarceretti you probably just want to add ‘’ to your reg exp.

    This is not obvious so I've added a section to the docs of FilteringTextInputFormatter to try to inform others: #132869
