App crashes after adding image_picker plugin.

    Please try deleting /home/bhanu/software/flutter/.pub-cache/hosted/pub.dartlang.org/image_picker-0.4.10/ and then run flutter packages get again.

    I already have classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:3.2.1' classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.1.0' in my project level build.gradle, It is not working.

    @bhanu-manthry ensure you have distributionUrl=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-4.10.2-all.zip in android/gradle/wrapper7gradle-wrapper.properties

    Same here ! I use AndroidX and the image_picker dependency makes again problems (I did an Android update today and afterwards nothing worked again with the image_picker dependency).

    I tried:

    a) delete package, found here...
    /Users/username/Projects/flutter/.pub-cache/hosted/pub.dartlang.org/image_picker-0.4.12+1
    b) make sure I have the AndroidX-version of the image_picker inside pubspec.yaml (currently this is image_picker: 0.4.12+1
    c) do flutter packages get so that the package gets re-installed fresh
    d) make a flutter clean
    e) I open Android Studio and all the grade compilation is successful - however, opening the Flutter App in Android does still crash !

    Something is still wrong. What else do I need to do in order to make image_picker work again in AndroidX ????

    I have found a solution:

    In gradle.properties set enableJetifier to false (i.e. only keep the first one to true)...

    android.useAndroidX=true
android.enableJetifier=false

    I have no idea why this was suddenly necessary today.

    Any explanation highly appreciated. Thanks.

    i have same exact issue. and i resolved by updating pubspec.yaml:
    from image_picker: ^0.4.10 to image_picker: ^0.6.0+9

    I too am getting this same issue when trying to update my app to AndroidX.
    If i have my app as non-AndroidX, it "works" but i get another issue of the selected image not appearing only when on actual device.

    I have found a solution:

    In gradle.properties set enableJetifier to false (i.e. only keep the first one to true)...

    android.useAndroidX=true
android.enableJetifier=false

    I have no idea why this was suddenly necessary today.

    Any explanation highly appreciated. Thanks.

    Is this a good to go workaround?

    @bhanu-manthry we've made a lot of improvements to our Gradle support, including for AndroidX. Can you test to see if this issue still occurs on 1.12?

    Without additional information, we are unfortunately not sure how to resolve this issue. We are therefore reluctantly going to close this bug for now. Please don't hesitate to comment on the bug if you have any more information for us; we will reopen it right away!

    Could everyone who still has this problem please file a new issue with the exact descriptions what happens, logs and the output of 'flutter doctor -v' please.
    All system setups can be slightly different so it's always better to open new issues and reference related issues.

    Use image_picker: ^0.6.6+1 and add AndroidManifest.xml following:
    <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
    This way worked for me!
