Filtering Flutter logging is missing in v1.12.13+hotfix.8 #50628
Description
Steps to Reproduce
- Upgrading to Flutter v1.12.13+hotfix.8
- Update the files as follows: no file update required.
- Run
flutter run.
Expected results:
In the run window I expected to see only logcat logs that were filtered by keyword flutter.
It looks like the cause of this problem lies here: 0b8abb4#diff-5d531011d56b3e9b299eb3be6246799cR859
Actual results:
All the logging lines from logcat are outputted in the run window.

@blasten The problem here is that native logging now also appears in the flutter run logs because the command arguments on the line @alkoschuster mentioned do not filter on flutter anymore.
In previous releases native logging was available in logcat and Dart logging in flutter run.
If you would add the

@blasten, I agree with @mark-veenstra on this. The nice thing about the logging shown in the
runwindow in Android Studio was, that it contained only the logging I wanted to see because of my ownprintstatements. In that window, I am really not interested in all the otther logging. If I want to see that I will open thelogcatwindow and filter over there on myPID.What happens now is clearly also not what was meant, based on the comment in the code (which is still in place):

This was the behavior back in
v1.9.1+hotfix.6and previous releases of Flutter. You can verify by trying that release version. Rungit checkout v1.9.1+hotfix.6within your Flutter SDK installation directory. Then, tryflutter runagain.I can see why filtering by the

@blasten Don't have to go back that far, it was also still the behavior, just 1 hotfix ago in v1.12.13+hotfix.7. And again I would have to agree with @mark-veenstra on this, why not make it configurable for these benchmark tools to see the full log and let the default behaviour be the filtered logs, so your actual users are not affected by this.

Benchmarks are not the only reason to have more verbose logs, with the filtered logs you would also not be able to see when your flutter app crashes.
As this is working as intended I will close this issue and open a new feature request for a flag to filter log output: #50808. Please follow/comment there for further discussion and updates.
