Gallery, Pesto: Hero UP transition shouldn't be linear #5096

Closed

Description

@sethladd

In a design review, it appears that the Hero Up transition of a recipe card in Pesto is linear. It was recommended that we use the "standard curve" from https://material.google.com/motion/duration-easing.html#duration-easing-natural-easing-curves instead. The recommendation is to avoid linear.

    "Because this is a curve which needs to be contiguous with the fling gesture velocity, use the Deceleration curve (“Easing out”), with the initial velocity == fling velocity" and "Android Launcher or Google Now Launcher uses this logic, if you want to see it in action"

    Also applies to Hero Down.

    Our first two reviews of Gallery pointed this out twice.

    (generally, we should not have linear transitions)
