on Aug 27, 2020 cc @justinmc can this be closed? The behavior on iOS 16 is long pressing moves the cursor to the pressed position, which matches the current flutter behavior.
Edit:
Behavior seems to be if a TextField is focused then long pressing moves the cursor to the pressed position.
If the TextField is not focused then long pressing selects the word at the pressed position.@Renzo-Olivares Is your edit referring to native iOS 16 behavior? How did you reproduce that behavior? I tried in Messages and it still just placed the cursor even when the field wasn't focused, but I realized I was using iOS 15. Trying to upgrade now.
Otherwise if that's not something that we need to implement in Flutter then I agree this should be closed. I confirmed that the behavior in the issue description doesn't happen on native iOS anymore.
@justinmc I tried this on iOS 16 on the notes app. I am however not seeing the same behavior in the Messages app, it only places the cursor at the long press position. Maybe that behavior is custom to the notes app then?
The Files app also seems to place the cursor. I say let's close this!

Steps to Reproduce
On native, longpressing on the collapsed cursor allows it to be dragged around. We should make sure that behavior is preserved when this is fixed.
