   I updated my local Android SDK to 25, to match android 7.1.1. Now, I can (very slowly) boot up the starter app onto an x86 64 emulator. The initial sync is very slow for some reason.

   I now see this error:

   The fix for this issue is probably more around signalling to the user that their android sdk is too old for the target.

   I'm going to close this particular issue, because once the user upgrades their SDK, they can boot up the starter app.

   Another issue is probably warranted, one around the exception thrown after the the app boots.
