I just looked at our internal list of supported Android languages and Irish (ga) does not appear on there, so it seems unlikely that we will be supporting ga in the near future.
However, as Hans has pointed out, it appears on a list of locales under locale_config.xml, so I'm clarifying with our i18n team on what that particular list of locales actually means.

Don't see the Irish language support here: https://api.flutter.dev/flutter/flutter_localizations/flutter_localizations-library.html

We have tried to support the same locales as Android. Android 11 does support Irish, https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/android-11.0.0_r1/core/res/res/values/locale_config.xml, so we can look into adding that.

Just circling back to this to confirm that Irish (ga) is not a supported Android language.
However, in the meantime, you could write your own custom localizations delegate to support it. It might even make a good third-party package that others could use.

hey @HansMuller & @shihaohong
I'm also having this issue for Irish and Maltese:
Both are supported by Android 11. Could we reopen the issue and track these?

Currently, I am using a custom method to solve this issue.
