Description
(This could well be a configuration error rather than a bug as-such.)
I encountered this in GeoPySpark, but the error was generated from within GeoTrellis.
Given an RDD of ProjectedExtent, Tile pairs extracted from s3://datahub-rawdata-us-east-1/cdl/CDLS_2016_30m.tif using rasterio, attempts to repartition or run tile_to_extent on a raster layer produced from it raise a org.apache.spark.shuffle.FetchFailedException: Too large frame: 2624680416 exception (reproduced fully below).
Here is a notebook that gives the full context.
The error in question is here:

Whats the solution for this issue, I have been facing this too...
pomadchin commentedon Dec 27, 2017
Yo @MJFND, this problem happens due to having too big objects to shuffle. Try to deal with smaller windows (with smaller image chips).
MJFND commentedon Dec 27, 2017
that means increasing the shuffle partition would help?
--conf spark.sql.shuffle.partitions=value

Hi,
I'm facing the same issue. Could you please let me know the resolution for this.

Hi :)
Deacrease spark.buffer.pageSize to 2m and increase spark.sql.shuffle.partitions (default 200) will do it
