Senior Staff/Principal Software Engineer
Backend, frontend, testing, DevOps & architecture — "Full Stack" for me means taking responsibility for the whole journey, from understanding the business problem to running software and learning from user feedback. Just like the technical components, the team needs to communicate well — because software development is a team sport!
I've been building software professionally since 2010, across freelance projects, startups (including my own) and engineering teams. I enjoy solving technical problems hands-on, sharing knowledge and making development easier for the people around me. Leadership, mentoring and a good developer experience are part of that work.
"Helping people turn ideas into solutions"
Check out my new interactive tutorial about Google's Agent Development Kit (ADK) [https://github.com/lukas-zech-software/kleinanzeigen-agent]
- Early Interest: Built small programs and tools during my school years.
- Solid Foundation: Completed vocational training as a Computer Science Expert - Software Development (IHK).
- Growing with a Unicorn: Worked as a developer at CHECK24 while it became one of the first german Unicorns.
- Diverse Experience: Worked as a freelancer across SaaS, e-commerce and industrial IoT — from cloud platforms to embedded Linux devices.
- Startup Co-Founder: Co-founded Alliado and built its software and cloud infrastructure, from the business use case to day-to-day operation.
- Helping Teams Grow: Shaped engineering practices as Head of Engineering at become.1, with a focus on quality, shared understanding and constructive communication.
- Better Tools, Better Feedback: Introduced an Nx monorepo, shared TypeScript contracts, automated quality checks and AI-assisted development workflows at b.sure.
I'm exploring how coding agents and AI-assisted knowledge bases can make everyday engineering better. That includes clear architecture context, code reviews, automated tests and guardrails — AI-generated code should meet the same standards as everything else we ship.
In my current role at Xamena, I use OpenKnowledge to document business processes and support technical decisions. I also built a personal knowledge base that connects my documented experience and references with job requirements to create tailored applications. Yes, there's a little bit of AI engineering behind this profile, too.
