Bug summary
This simple example demonstrates the problem with the plotting window being tiny (and requiring resizing to see anything) with wxPython 4.3 (and 4.3.1). Rolling back to wxPython 4.2.5 makes the problem go away. I tried to reproduce this with a simple wxPython app, but was not able to.
Code for reproduction
x = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
y = [1, 4, 9, 16, 25]
plt.plot(x, y)
plt.show()
