I was curious if there are any plans to visualize type hierarchy starting from a selected class? Something similar to what Eclipse’s type hierarchy of a class or CodeGraph for VS do.
That would be useful for large projects.
It's not currently planned. VS has an object browser which shows the types hierarches in a tree view, which would probably be implemented before a fancier graph visualization.
Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers can show the type hierarchy for a selected C++ class (like the below), this is a very useful feature for C++ developers, is it possible to implement it in VS Code?
Qian Zhang (@qianzhangxa) There is no update, but Find All References on a base class can be used to find all the subclasses that inherit it (although that also includes other references to the type).
I see that TypeScript in VS Code implements a "Show Type Hierarchy", but when I use it I get no results for some reason.
Sean McManus (@sean-mcmanus) Any updates now?
The "Show Type Hierarchy" hasn't worked for a long time.
This is really an important and helpful feature, especially in large projects. Many modern C++ IDEs have got it, such as CLion or Eclipse.
So, please consider adding it to the plan.☺️
