Quota missing in "get user" API request before the user logged in first #7212
So, I found out that an user is required to sign-in for <quota/> in response to become data having values. Is there any way to populate data in quota without waiting for an user to login?

I'm using LDAP user and group backend. Thanks I'll fill it out.
cc @nextcloud/ldap
I guess for LDAP there is not much we can do here, because we fetch all user info for LDAP users on their first login to not overload the server by fetching all user data at once.
An empty data set is returned only, when a NotFoundException occurs during teardownFS, setupFS or, and most likely (at least the method signature says it is throwing it) getStorageInfo. This happens, when \OC\Files\Filesystem::getFileInfo() does not return an \OCP\Files\FileInfo.
The filesystem will only be instantiated (e.g. skeleton files copied over) first when the user login happens. All returned values are computed based on the root dir however.
One only "solution" would be to force file system initialization at this stage. But that's not really cool.
The other way is to populate the other fields as good as you can. You know, everything is free and nothing is used. The quota can be read from the user (and default to unlimited). But you cannot figure out the total space without knowing the storage.

So, I found out that an user is required to sign-in for
<quota/>in response to become data having values. Is there any way to populate data in quota without waiting for an user to login?MorrisJobke commentedon Nov 23, 2017
What user backend do you use?
dachinat commentedon Nov 23, 2017
I'm using MariaDB 10.2 Database backend

I meant for user management. Do you use user_saml or user_ldap? Best would be if you fill out the issue template: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nextcloud/server/master/issue_template.md

Seems to be related to #3068 and #5461

Sorry, what @dachinat describes is that users are being created and requested locally.
