Wouldn't it make more sense to replace the graphical checkbox when pressing backspack with the text representation - [ ] instead of removing it completely? At least for me this is the expexted behavior, but i don't insist to keep it, it's just well-known to me.

    FWIW, while it technically makes sense (for those who know how markdown actually works) for a less technical user this would probably be weird - so I am not even sure this is such a good idea. And even if we'd agree it is, no balance, helpful, I would rate it as very low priority ;-)

    This is actually fixed nowadays. Any kind of input rule will be undone if typing Backspace straight after the input rule was applied. In other words, typing * [ ] will create a task list item. If you type Backspace straight afterwards, you will see * [ ] .
