oci_capacity_reporter_gui - additional enhancement #890

Description

@manojkskyhigh

Currently, when checking shape availability using the oci_capacity_reporter_gui script, the output simply displays 'AVAILABLE' across different Fault Domains (FDs).

It would be extremely helpful if the script could also show the exact number of VMs that can be successfully provisioned in that region/FD."

    Hi Manoj, the API returns those values. To get the actual deployment details, you can either use the showoci script, which extracts that information, or use the Search API.

    @adizohar Just to clarify, I'm talking about the oci_capacity_reporter script from the oci-python-sdk examples (used for generating capacity reports in a tenant). Instead of just showing 'AVAILABLE' for a shape, can we enhance it to display the actual count of VMs we can provision?"

    Currently, the script simply shows 'AVAILABLE' across different Fault Domains. It would be much more helpful if it could also report the exact number of VMs that can be created."

    Thanks for the clarification. We don't disclose actual capacity numbers externally, as they are confidential. The oci_capacity_reporter script is intended to provide a high-level indication of availability, but it won't expose the exact number of VMs that can be provisioned.
