Context
The diamond AI Assistant icon in the wp-admin toolbar (top-right) opened a slide-out sidebar that worked on every wp-admin page. Removed in v0.11 because the sidebar UI was not finished to the same quality bar as the main Agentic Admin admin page.
Removal commit on `feat/220-wp-7-ui-overhaul` branch (this session) — sources preserved:
- `src/extensions/admin-sidebar.js` (entry point)
- `includes/class-admin-bar.php` (deleted, recover via git history)
- `webpack.config.js` (`admin-sidebar` entry removed)
What v0.12 needs
- Restore `Admin_Bar` class (registers admin bar node + enqueues sidebar JS + renders container div)
- Restore webpack entry for `admin-sidebar`
- Get the slide-out sidebar to the same polish level as the main admin page (model status, engine toggle, chat with tool-call rendering, thinking-mode UI)
- Verify it works across all wp-admin screens (Plugins, Posts, Themes, Site Health, etc.)
Acceptance
- Diamond icon visible top-right of wp-admin toolbar for users with `manage_options`
- Clicking opens slide-out sidebar
- Sidebar behaves identically to the chat tab on the main admin page
- Closes via icon click, ESC, or overlay click
- Model state persists when navigating between admin pages (Service Worker engine)
Why deferred
WordPress.org submission for v0.11. The standalone admin page is the proven, polished surface; the toolbar sidebar's UI inconsistencies risked review delays.
