Press Club started at AGI House's productivity hackathon.
During team formation, Weida got up and described what he had just pulled off. He wanted press for a product launch, but he didn't want to pay $10k for a PR agency. So he spent a week sending 200 cold emails to journalists.
It worked. With no media connections and no budget, he landed Forbes, The Wall Street Journal (Best of CES), CNET and five other outlets.
Kathy was listening from the back of the room, and she had just done the same kind of thing. The night before TED AI she still had no ticket, because a single one cost $1,900. So she pulled up all fifty speakers listed on the conference site and cold messaged every one of them. One wrote back and gave her a ticket, and the next morning she was sitting in the front row.
They talked the moment he finished speaking. They built their MVP in an hour, took second place, and someone paid them on the spot for access to what they had just built. That was the beginning of Press Club.
Now, we're helping other founders do the same.
