Stario documentation

Stario is a framework for server-rendered hypermedia apps. Routes are values, handlers are async functions, responses go through Writer, and telemetry follows the request path.

This manual is HTTP, routes, the writer, assets, tests, and the subscribe loop.

Start with a tutorial. Open a how-to for one job. Use explanation for why, and reference for the contract.

Start with one route

Install Stario with uv:

bash
uv init --app my-app
cd my-app
uv add "stario>=4,<5"

Hello world is one HTML route. Realtime tiles is the long subscribe stream. Tests live on Chat room and Testing with TestClient.

If an AI agent will work in the repository, read AI-assisted development and copy AGENTS.md into the project root.

The Python helpers are the Datastar SDK. The page idea is Go-to architecture.

The other tools

The Stario way is the philosophy: learn the internals, keep control of the stack. Deploy has its own book.
