I live in London 🇬🇧 and work as a researcher/engineer/manager. Before that I lived in the US and in Germany. A couple of years ago I completed a DPhil in Engineering at the University of Oxford. After that I managed a data team (data scientists and data engineers) at a scale-up. To get work done I use the following setup .

I am experimenting with this this blog as a form of social internet without some of the downsides. Longer content, interesting links, no ads, human text, no algorithmic curation. Full control over content, form, and distribution.

I enjoy learning new things. I am interested in:

• Bayesian statistics, ML, data science, data engineering, AI
• convex optimization and control
• privacy, security, and open-source software
• Julia, Python, and Rust programming on the CPU and GPU
• climate and energy technologies
• systems thinking
• Ancient, Renaissance, and 19/20th century history

and I enjoy: good coffee, reading , complicated board games, travelling, multi-day hikes, cycling , triathlon, and sailing holidays.
