Tip!: Boost Dialog and Normalize Loudness require an active Plex Pass subscription on the user account performing the action. Users in a Plex Home of a Home Admin with a Plex Pass will also be able to use them.
Enable Loudness Analysis is a premium feature and requires an active Plex Pass subscription for the Server admin account.
Playback Options
During playback bring up the on screen controls and select Playback Settings (gear icon)
Select Playback Options and enable the settings you would like to use
Note: Enabling either of these options will cause the audio to be transcoded
Boost Dialog
Helps when dialog is too quiet to hear. The server isolates and boosts the frequency that dialog occurs at.
Normalize Loudness
Keeps all audio at a decent level for human hearing, helps with quieting down very loud scenes. This requires analysis of audio tracks in the media file and requires two server settings to be enabled. If not analyzed the option will not be available.
Enable Sever Settings
Server Settings > Library> Analyze audio tracks for loudness
Options are;
- Never
- As a Scheduled Tasks
- As a Schedules Tasks and when media is added

Enable Loudness Analysis in the advanced settings for each library. It is a premium feature and requires an active Plex Pass subscription for the Server admin account.
Tip: If both options are enabled you can also Manually Analyze media in supported apps like the contextual menu in web app and Manage Settings of the mobile apps.
Once items have been analyzed the loudness information will remain for items that have completed analysis even if you disable the above features but will not analyze anything else.
Audio streams with loudness analyzed will show as true in Media info and canNormalizeLoudness="1" in the stream info in the XML
