MILESTONE | 50 Million Recorded Documents In Maricopa County

The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office yesterday reached a major milestone: 50 million recorded documents.

“This week, we’re proud to reach 50 million recorded documents — consisting of more than 188,400,000 pages,” said Recorder Richer. “For more than 150 years, our office has worked hard to serve Maricopa County residents and record important documents.

The team at the Recorder’s Office is dedicated to providing first-in-class customer service, and we will continue to prioritize meeting the needs of our constituents.”

The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office (MCRO) processes and preserves deeds, maps, plats, surveys, and a variety of other important documents.

In-person and digital recording services are available, and all recorded documents can be viewed at Recorder.Maricopa.Gov. All documents recorded with MCRO are permanent public records.

Every year, MCRO records approximately one million documents, with an average of 3,000 to 5,000 customers daily. The office recorded the highest number of documents in 2005, recording a total of 1,978,309 documents.

MCRO’s first recording took place approximately 152 years ago in 1871. Below is an image of the first deed recorded, found on the first page of Book No. 1.
