Modules 5.6.2, 5.3.2 and 4.5.4 are out, fixing CVE-2026-85013: command injection in the Bash completion of module/ml via malicious module names. All versions 3.2.7 to 5.6.1 affected, please upgrade.

📦 Coming in Modules 5.7: new ignore_cache_subcmds option to skip the module cache for chosen sub-commands (e.g. load) — faster with huge cache files, while avail & co keep the cache benefits.
📦 Coming in Modules 5.7: the new --with-pythondir installation option lets you install the env_modules Python module in your Python's site-packages — import env_modules then works without setting PYTHONPATH.
Modulepaths cluttered with files that aren't modulefiles? Modules 5.7 will introduce modulepath-ignore: .gitignore-style patterns to skip them entirely — not walked, not reported, not cached.
