[Release][Python] Verification jobs failing after dropping Python 3.10 support #50600

Closed

Description

@raulcd

Describe the bug, including details regarding any error messages, version, and platform.

Some of our verification jobs have started failing because we use Ubuntu 22.04 and we have dropped support for Python 3.10.

The failures are not all the same but all are related to Python version issues after dropping Py3.10:

    This isn't strictly due to 3.10 is because our environment tries to install 3.14t and our CMake find doesn't find it because of the ABI check:

    2026-08-04T09:16:18.1320450Z -- Could NOT find Python3 (missing: Python3_EXECUTABLE Interpreter)
    2026-08-04T09:16:18.1321138Z     Reason given by package:
    2026-08-04T09:16:18.1321963Z Interpreter: Wrong ABI for the interpreter "/tmp/arrow-HEAD.6CGIg/miniforge/envs/conda-source/bin/python"

    Currently failing on the 25.0.1 maintenance branch. I'll probably have to cherry-pick this for the release:

    I've partially cherry-picked this commit as there are parts which are not relevant, this is the partially added commit to the maintenance branch:
