API: Deprecate get_config_dir and get_cache_dir #19609
Projects that have dependency metadata still look like they support astropy 5.x, while the replacement APIs were only introduced in 7.0.0 (#17118). It looks like too much of a leap to justify migrating them now.

I agree. I wouldn't do it so soon. Maybe in 2-5 years... 😆
