@taldcroft - this is very weird: |
|
I can't reproduce that: |
|
@mhvk - I'm a little confused about the justification, namely allowing "simple" tests to run without remote data. Which specific tests are you talking about? |
|
@taldcroft - sorry, the commit message made more sense as part of #4920 (where I started it, but then took it out): it calculates some ephemeris for a 2014 date, which causes IERS A to be downloaded since IERS B shipped along with astropy is so far out of date. But what I don't understand is how updating IERS B could have affected this. Unless it is that now the excerpt that is used in But even stranger that you cannot reproduce this... |

@mhvk - I am able to reproduce now. I'll look into this. |

@mhvk - the problem is because the IERS-A excerpt is entirely contained within the new IERS-B file. I fixed the broadcasting exception but other tests are failing because with the new logic of patching in IERS-B values where available, now the entire IERS-A excerpt is coming from IERS-B. I think I can update the logic in I should have a PR to your branch soon. |

Ah, I figured it was something like that. But still don't quite understand it: I thought |

I now see you already have a commit that fixes the error, so I'll go ahead and merge that so it can be tested and this can go into master. I can then add a |

Yes, you could factor out this bit into a separate private method |

OK, I made the change following your suggestion. I also had to undo the changes to the test file, since you were now testing against IERS_B values... |

Looks good to me assuming tests pass. |

I killed the tests to make |

This is partially to ensure that when we test using recent times, we don't automatically download IERS A, but also just to make sure we have recent final values in 1.2 (pending auto-download of IERS B).
