Ensure the count pipeline reports yq failures.
The test file uses set -eu -x without pipefail. Line 260 therefore returns tr's status. A failed yq command can produce an incorrect count and weaken the partition test. Enable pipefail or check the yq status before counting.

NOT LGTM. The mechanism works inside its declared-edge domain and the tests around it are real, but two claims that ship permanently with it are false, and both aim the next author at the wrong safety argument.
Blocking: "safe by construction" does not cover prerequisites that are not edges
The script, the commit message and the PR body all say subtraction is safe by construction, because the closure is a forward walk over dependsOn and anything a kept package needs is therefore already inside it. That holds only for prerequisites that exist as dependsOn edges. The baseline block three screens above it exists because they do not all exist as edges, and the baseline does not enumerate the rest.
On this branch hack/select-install.sh --disabled postgres emits cozystack.linstor and cozystack.metallb. hack/e2e-install-cozystack.bats runs hack/e2e-post-install-prep.sh and gates on it with wait $POST_PREP_PID then exit 1. That script is set -eu and blocks on helmrelease/linstor -n cozy-linstor --for=condition=Ready, on deployment/linstor-controller, and on the MetalLB CRDs ipaddresspools.metallb.io and l2advertisements.metallb.io, each with a 900s budget and a non-zero return on timeout. Feed the emitted list into bundles.disabledPackages and the install dies there before any suite starts, reporting timed out waiting for linstor HelmRelease to be Ready, which does not point at the disable list. Behind the same two: no default StorageClass for any app PVC, and no LoadBalancer IP on the root-ingress-controller Service that the Grafana check reads at the end of the install.
Nothing here catches it. The new no kept package has a dependency in the complement test walks declared dependsOn only, so it is blind to exactly the class the baseline was invented for.
Whether linstor and metallb belong in the baseline or in the wiring change is your call. What I want is for the sentence to stop claiming a property the artifact does not have. It lands in main verbatim under a merge commit, and it is the first thing whoever wires this will read.
Blocking: "None carries a dependsOn edge from any app" is false for five of the seven
packages/core/platform/sources/tenant-application.yaml declares dependsOn on cozystack.ingress-application, cozystack.seaweedfs-application, cozystack.monitoring-application, cozystack.etcd-application and cozystack.cozystack-engine. packages/core/platform/sources/cozystack-basics.yaml declares one on cozystack.tenant-application. Seeding cozystack.cozystack-basics alone reaches the other six through the graph.
By mutation: delete cozystack.seaweedfs-application from the baseline string and nothing in the output changes, the suite stays 23/23 green, because the edge from tenant-application still carries it. Delete cozystack.cozystack-basics, the one entry that really is unreachable, and never disables the platform baseline goes red. That test discriminates on one member out of seven.
The redundancy costs nothing by itself. The explanation does, since it is the stated reason the list is hand-maintained instead of expressed as edges, and it will be read as a rule next time someone adds an entry.
Non-blocking
A pre-existing test lost its power here. etcd closure includes the operator that serves its CRD was written to catch a mis-mapped suite, and its own comment says asserting only the app source is what left the gap invisible. With cozystack.etcd-application seeded unconditionally, every assertion in it is satisfied by hack/select-install.sh kuberture, a suite unrelated to etcd. Mis-map etcd to cozystack.kuberture in suite_to_source() and the suite stays 23/23 green here, while the same mutation against the main copy of the script fails it. Worth an assertion the baseline cannot supply while you are in there.
hack/select-install_test.bats line 251 has the same three-line comment twice in a row.
hack/select-install.sh near line 240 keeps the old engine-seeding paragraph and appends the new baseline paragraph under it with no blank line, so the file explains the same seeding twice and the older half still reads as if the engine were the only seeded entry.
The disable list in packages/core/platform/tests/selective_install_test.yaml is a frozen snapshot with a regenerate-me comment and nothing enforcing it. Add a PackageSource and the anchor goes stale while every assertion still passes. The bats suite builds its lists live and does not have that problem.
Checked and clean
Negative assertions in the new helm suite all carry any: true. Both package defines in _helpers.tpl consult bundles.disabledPackages, and that file is the only thing in the chart emitting kind: Package. Counts check out: 21 kept, 78 disabled, 99 sources, five fail() guards across iaas and naas. hack/select-install_test.bats reaches CI through BATS_UNIT_FILES and make unit-tests, and is 23/23 green under both bats and hack/cozytest.sh; the platform helm suite is green at 34 suites, 145 tests. Inverting the complement to grep -xF is killed by four of the new tests, so the core logic is covered.
Landing this before its consumer is fine by me. The list is a pure function of files already in the tree and the tests do check its output. The part tests cannot reach is whether the reduced platform converges, and that is where the linstor and metallb gap sits.

Second pass, additive to the review above. Verdict unchanged. Three of these are the same class as the blockers there: a sentence that ships permanently and is not true.
The vminstance mapping under-selects, and --disabled is the first consumer that can be hurt by it
suite_to_source() maps vminstance to cozystack.vm-instance-application alone, whose dependsOn is networking, kubevirt and the engine. So hack/select-install.sh --disabled vminstance emits cozystack.vm-disk-application and cozystack.kubevirt-cdi. The suite applies kind: VMDisk in hack/e2e-chainsaw/vminstance/vmdisk.yaml and vmdisk-vmi.yaml, and asserts on cdi.kubevirt.io/v1beta1 at chainsaw-test.yaml:36 and :86. The reduced platform drops exactly what the mapped suite exercises.
hack/select-e2e.sh already knows this. src_to_suites() carries a vm-disk-application) echo vminstance entry whose comment says the suite covers that source and everything reaching it, kubevirt-cdi included. The two tables are documented as inverses at select-install.sh:99 and select-e2e.sh:214, and they are not: src_to_suites is many-to-one, suite_to_source is one-to-one. select-e2e_test.bats:893 pins the suite to source to suite direction only. The unguarded direction is the one --disabled now depends on, and --validate does not cover it either.
In closure mode a one-to-one mapping over-installs at worst. In disabled mode it under-installs, which is the direction that breaks a run.
The worked example for "safe by construction" is a pair no closure can reach
The script says the hard pairs this protects are real, cites backupstrategy-controller depending on velero, and says they survive without being special-cased here. Nothing in packages/core/platform/sources/ declares a dependsOn edge to cozystack.backupstrategy-controller, so it is never in any closure, and both it and cozystack.velero sit in the complement every time. This changeset already established that: hack/select-install_test.bats:280-282 says an earlier version of the test pinned that pair, "which no closure can reach ... so the test asserted nothing at all". The test got fixed. The comment citing the same disproven pair as evidence did not.
selective_install_test.yaml:7 cites prior art that does not pin anything
"tests/bundles_velero_default_test.yaml already pins that property for one package." The two negated containsDocument asserts in that file's disabledPackages case carry no any: true, unlike the positive assert above them in the same file, so helm-unittest evaluates them against document index 0 and they pass whether or not the helper honours disabledPackages. Those vacuous asserts predate this diff and deserve their own fix. The sentence presenting them as standing evidence is new.
A third unconditional install gate the baseline misses
Same shape as the linstor and metallb point above, different file. hack/e2e-install-cozystack.bats:295 is an unconditional test that polls for five deployments in cozy-cluster-api and then waits on them with no tolerance. cozystack.capi-operator, the four capi-provider-* and cozystack.kamaji are all in the complement for the postgres suite. The baseline derivation names this file as its evidence but reads only the tenant-root HelmRelease wait at line 328.
Minor
hack/select-install.sh:44. The sentence "A suite with no known mapping is a HARD ERROR (fail closed)" used to close the closure-mode output paragraph. The diff glued it onto the tail of the new optional-packages paragraph, where it now reads as a property of optional-package handling. It belongs to the shared suite mapping, in both modes.
hack/select-install_test.bats:293. grep "^$k " treats the name as a BRE, so the dot in cozystack.foo matches any character. Harmless against today's names, but this is the one test whose whole job is exact set membership, and awk -v k="$k" '$1==k' costs the same.

NOT LGTM. The mechanism and its tests hold up. The PR body still carries the sentence I blocked on in September, and its numbers contradict a test that ships in the same diff.
Business context: select-install.sh has computed a forward dependency closure since #3279 with nothing consuming it. This adds --disabled to emit the complement, so a normal variant reduces by subtraction to what one E2E run needs.
Fixed since September, checked against the tree: linstor, metallb, the CAPI operator with its four providers and the Keycloak pair are in the baseline, so the two install gates I raised no longer time out. vminstance maps to both application owners. The fixture is regenerated and diffed instead of frozen. The velero worked example, the bundles_velero_default_test.yaml citation, the duplicated comment and the BRE grep "^$k " are gone.
I ran five mutations against hack/select-install.sh, naming the expected red test before each run: inverted complement at :416, dropped empty-selection refusal at :305, unmapped suite made non-fatal at :286, closure walk collapsed to one round at :368, reachability check disabled at :397. All five reddened the test that names the behaviour. A second model pass found nothing actionable.
Blockers
B1, PR body: the seed rationale is false for all six entries. The body says of cozystack-basics, tenant-application and the etcd, ingress, monitoring and seaweedfs applications: "None carries a dependsOn edge from any app, so the graph walk cannot reach them." All six are reachable. kubevirt-cdi.yaml declares dependsOn: cozystack.cozystack-basics and kubevirt-cdi is itself a baseline seed; cozystack-basics.yaml has an edge to tenant-application, which has edges to ingress-application, seaweedfs-application, monitoring-application and etcd-application. Delete all six names from the baseline string and --disabled postgres comes back byte-identical to the committed fixture, with the bats file still 34/34. This is the stated reason the list is hand-maintained rather than expressed as edges, so it is what the next person adding an entry reads. Same sentence I raised on 3 September: it got fixed in the script comment and left standing in the body. Say instead that the six are seeded as install-harness requirements that should not become graph edges, which is what the script comment argues now.
B2, PR body: the counts contradict the committed test. The body says "21 kept and 78 disabled out of 99 ... so the real reduction is 72". It is 33 kept, 68 disabled, 101 sources. --disabled postgres emits 68 names, the fixture holds 68 entries, and hack/select-install_test.bats pins [ "$total" -eq 101 ], [ "$keep" -eq 33 ] and [ "$drop" -eq 68 ]. CodeRabbit read 78 off the body and filed a Major finding asking for the fixture to be regenerated to 78 entries, which would break a correct fixture. Correct the numbers or drop them.
Non-blocking
etcd closure includes the operator that serves its CRDno longer discriminates.hack/select-install.sh kuberture, a suite unrelated to etcd, satisfies all five of its assertions because the baseline supplies every one. I raised this in September as well.hack/select-install_test.bats:410-412: three bare[ ... ]count assertions, silent on failure, and a second place to update whenever a PackageSource lands.select-e2e.shargues against this in its own header.hack/select-install.sh:210:for (node in nodes)has unspecified iteration order while the tests pin a node name in the expected message. I could not make it differ across gawk, mawk and BSD awk, so it is latent rather than live. Recording insertion order is two lines.- E2E is red at 48 of 52 with the install converged. The four failures are application suites, and nothing outside the test files calls
select-install.sh, so I did not read that red as coming from this change.

myasnikovdaniil NOT LGTM. The code is ready, the PR body is not. The body describes a tool that only lives under hack/, but the diff also changes the install graph on every cluster, and two of its sentences about tests and CI are out of date. The body becomes the merge commit message, so it has to match the head.
Both blockers from my last review are closed. The body now says the explicit seeds hold the install contract even where the graph also reaches them, and the wrong counts are gone.
I checked the new work against the tree. The run harness creates KubernetesNodes, so making kubernetes-nodes-application an owner of both Kubernetes suites is right. The new mongodb-application edge to mongodb-operator matches postgres, mariadb, redis, kafka and the other operator-backed apps I checked. The seaweedfs-application edge to objectstorage-controller matches bucket-application, and extra/seaweedfs renders COSI BucketClass objects. Backup suites keep backupstrategy-controller, whose own edges pull in the backup controller, the Bucket app, the COSI controller and Velero. The BWK awk fix reads the node list from ENVIRON, which avoids the -v newline problem.
Tests on this head: hack/select-install_test.bats 39/39, hack/select-e2e_test.bats 51/51, tests/selective_install_test.yaml 7/7. I ran seven mutations against the selector and the sources, naming the expected red test before each run. All seven reddened it:
- Empty-selection refusal dropped: test 39.
- Closure walk cut to one round: test 2, plus 22 others.
- Gateway webhook removed from
suite_runtime_sources: tests 16 and 17. mongodb-operatoredge removed from the mongodb source: test 5.kubernetes-nodes-applicationremoved as a Kubernetes suite owner: test 4.- Unmapped suite made non-fatal: test 11.
postgresremoved from the backup suite list: tests 15, 17 and 38.
I rendered the platform chart on main and on this head, once with default values (104 objects) and once with isp-full plus the iaas and paas bundles (179 objects). The object set is the same in both. The only difference is the two new dependsOn entries.

B1, PR body. Three sentences don't match the head.
- The body presents the change as
select-install.sh --disabledand says the ownership mapping used by reverse test selection stays separate. It does not mention that bac6b2b adds twodependsOnedges to production PackageSources, or thatselect-e2e.shnow mapskubernetes-nodes-applicationto the Kubernetes suites. Both change behavior outside the tool. On a live cluster the seaweedfs and mongodb releases get a new install dependency. In test selection, a change underpackages/system/mongodb-operatorused to escalate to the full suite and now selects onlymongodb. A change underpackages/apps/kubernetes-nodesused to escalate too, and now selects the two Kubernetes suites. All of this looks correct to me. It still belongs in the merge commit, and thefeat(hack)title with "No downstream repository is affected" does not cover it. - "36 install-selection tests": the file has 39.
- "E2E validation on the rebased branch is pending": E2E passed on this head.
Non-blocking
- A full-suite answer from
select-e2e.shstill turns into a disable list. A change topackages/core/platform/values.yaml, tohack/select-install.shor to an unknown path escalates to all 23 suites, and--disabledon that list still drops 33 packages,multus,cozy-proxy,cozystack-scheduler,linstor-schedulerandflux-plungeramong them. On exactly the changes that touch the whole platform, the install gate would stop checking that those packages install.select-e2e.shprints the same suite list whichever rule escalated, so a consumer can't tell the difference. The wiring follow-up needs an escalation signal fromselect-e2e.shand should skip the disable list when it fires. A line about this in the header, next to the fresh-install limits, would keep it from getting lost. - The comment above
validate_graph("The former shell cycle walk restarted from each owner...") describes an earlier version of the code rather than why it is shaped this way now.

Aleksei Sviridkin (@lexfrei) updated the PR body and rebased on main. The E2E job uses the selector now: suites are selected before the install and the complement goes to the platform Package as I decided not to add an escalation signal. Packages that no suite owns stay uninstalled also on a full-suite answer, nothing in the run looks at them, so installing them only adds a readiness wait. myasnikovdaniil NOT LGTM. The code is fine and E2E passed with the reduced install. The PR body and one comment still describe the install as it was before #4023, and the body no longer matches what this branch changes once it is merged with current main.
My last blocker is mostly closed. The title and body now cover the two new dependsOn edges and the reverse-selection change, and the "E2E pending" line is gone. The full-suite case from my non-blocking note is now stated in the body and in the script header, and the platform services moved into the baseline. The E2E run on this head selected all 23 suites, disabled the rest of the platform and passed, so I read that trade as deliberate.
The new E2E wiring looks right to me. Both lanes select before they install. An empty selection or the full-e2e label leaves COZY_DISABLED_PACKAGES empty, and the nightly and tag lanes don't pass it at all. hack/platform-packages_test.bats pins the step order and the forwarding.
The branch conflicts with main in two files. In hack/select-e2e.sh, main already maps kubernetes-nodes-application to kubernetes-latest kubernetes-previous computeplane since #4713, which covers this branch's line. In hack/select-install.sh, #4658 rewrote discover_suites to find nested suites and numbered step files. On a local trial merge I kept main's mapping, and kept your validate_graph and the empty-list error around main's find. On that tree hack/select-install_test.bats is 45/45, hack/select-e2e_test.bats 60/60, hack/platform-packages_test.bats 11/11 under LC_ALL=C (see the note below), and the platform chart helm-unittest 247/247. --validate accepts the three suites main added (computeplane, monitoring, seaweedfs).
I ran three mutations on that tree, and each one turned red the test that names the behaviour:
COZY_DISABLED_PACKAGESremoved from the fork lane's install step: "both gating workflows select before installing and forward the list".ouroborosremoved from the baseline: "never disables the direct runtime baseline".objectstorage-controlleredge removed fromseaweedfs-application: "kubernetes suites keep the cluster and worker pool APIs".
Blockers
B1, PR body and hack/select-install.sh:344: the install no longer waits on monitoring. The body says "what the install waits on (monitoring, SeaweedFS, Keycloak, KubeVirt, LINSTOR) stays in the baseline". The comment above baseline says "the four root services are all waited before a selected suite can finish". Since #4023, which is already in this branch's base, the Tenant patch sets monitoring: false, and hack/e2e-install-cozystack.bats:292 waits only on hr/etcd hr/ingress hr/seaweedfs hr/tenant-root. monitoring-application still has to be in the closure because tenant-application depends on it, so the list is right and only the reason is wrong. Please drop monitoring from the body sentence, and make the comment say three services are waited and monitoring stays as a dependency of the tenant chart.
B2, PR body: two statements will be false after the merge.
- "Reverse test selection now maps
kubernetes-nodes-applicationto both Kubernetes suites ... Both paths previously fell back to the full suite", and the release note line "Changes to KubernetesNodes select the Kubernetes E2E suites". Main does this already since #4713, withcomputeplanetoo. After the rebase yourselect-e2e.shline drops out, so this part is not this PR's change anymore. Themongodb-operatorpart is still true. - "39 install-selection tests, 51 E2E-selection tests": this head has 41 and 54
@testblocks, and after the rebase it will be 45 and 60. This is the third time a count in the body drifted, so I would remove the counts instead of fixing them again.
The body becomes the merge commit message, so it has to describe the merged result.

hack/e2e-platform-packages.sh:37: thecozystack.*[!a-z0-9.-]*pattern depends on the locale. On macOS/bin/shis bash, and underen_US.UTF-8the rangea-zmatchesGtoo.COZY_DISABLED_PACKAGES=cozystack.Gold hack/e2e-platform-packages.shexits 0 there, so "a malformed package name fails before emitting YAML" fails locally. UnderLC_ALL=Cthe same command exits 2, and dash on the CI runners compares bytes, so CI is not affected. Spelling the class out as[!abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789.-]removes the dependence.

A reduced E2E install needs the install harness prerequisites and every owner of a selected suite, including requirements absent from the application dependency graph. Assisted-By: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
A missing suite owner or a discarded discovery failure can leave a reduced install without the APIs its tests exercise. Graph-only checks cannot establish that the chart preserves the requested package set. Assisted-By: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
PackageSource names contain dots, so regular-expression matching can accept a different source. Selecting a suite also does not prove its install closure retains every API that suite uses. Assisted-By: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
Dangling references and cycles make the inventory unsuitable for a fresh install even when the selected suite does not reach them. Accepting that inventory would hide a broken platform graph. Assisted-By: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
Backup roundtrip suites create Bucket and backup resources that the application graph does not require. A graph-only closure therefore omits the APIs those suites need on a fresh install. Assisted-By: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
BWK awk rejects literal newlines in command-line assignments. Every non-empty selection and graph validation therefore aborts before it can check dependencies when this awk implementation is selected. Assisted-By: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
Tenant HelmReleases need a shard reconciler, and the root SeaweedFS release creates COSI resources even when no backup suite is selected. Without those controllers, a fresh reduced install cannot become ready. The Kubernetes suites create worker pools through KubernetesNodes, and MongoDB renders an operator-owned CR. Selecting only the cluster API or application chart drops resources those suites require. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
The gateway namespace-churn regression requires a registered and ready pod admission webhook. Its availability cannot be tested when selective installation removes the package that registers it. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
Dropping every package that no suite owns also drops services the rest of the platform relies on: multus for secondary networks, the cozystack and LINSTOR schedulers, flux-plunger, cozy-proxy and ouroboros, whose hairpin NAT the Kubernetes suites assert. Nothing waits for them, so no PackageSource edge reaches them, and adding one would also change reverse test selection. The remaining packages stay uninstalled on purpose, also when test selection answers with every suite: nothing in the run looks at them, so installing them only adds a readiness wait. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
Two optional Cluster API providers, Proxmox and in-cluster IPAM, were added to the platform sources after the fixture was generated. The drift test compares the fixture with the current disable list, so it failed until they were added. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Myasnikov Daniil <[email protected]>
The E2E job installs the whole platform on a fresh cluster before it knows which suites will run, so every PR pays install time and flake surface for packages its suites never use. Select the suites first and pass the complement computed by select-install.sh to the platform Package as disabledPackages. The full-e2e label and an empty selection keep the full install, and the nightly and tag lanes pass no list, so they are unchanged. myasnikovdaniil I tidied the description and the baseline comment in select-install.sh so they match what the install waits on now. LGTM.
## What this PR does This fixes the E2E install on pull requests that select only a few suites. Today those runs fail before any suite starts: `cozystack-basics` fails with `namespaces "cozy-monitoring" not found`, and every package waiting on basics never installs. The reduced install from #4022 disables every package the selected suites don't need. For narrow selections like `vminstance` or the Kubernetes suites, that list includes metrics-server, monitoring-agents and monitoring, which are the only packages that create `cozy-monitoring`. Basics still renders three ExternalName redirects into that namespace, because `monitoring.rootEnabled` stays at its default of true. Wide selections keep at least one of those packages, so they pass. The E2E install already sets `Tenant/root spec.monitoring` to false, and `rootEnabled` is meant to match it. The harness now sets `rootEnabled: false`, so basics no longer writes into a namespace the install may not create. No suite uses these redirects. With root monitoring off they pointed at nothing even on full runs. The same failure can happen in a real cluster when a user disables those three packages. That needs a product change and is tracked in #4810. ### Screenshots ### Downstream repositories - [x] No downstream repository is affected by this change - [ ] [cozystack/website](https://github.com/cozystack/website) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ansible-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/ansible-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ccp](https://github.com/cozystack/ccp) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/talm](https://github.com/cozystack/talm) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozyhr](https://github.com/cozystack/cozyhr) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozy-proxy](https://github.com/cozystack/cozy-proxy) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server](https://github.com/cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/external-apps-example](https://github.com/cozystack/external-apps-example) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/examples](https://github.com/cozystack/examples) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/community](https://github.com/cozystack/community) - follow-up: ### Release note ```release-note fix(hack): the E2E install keeps root monitoring redirects off, so runs that select only a few suites no longer fail on a missing cozy-monitoring namespace. ``` <!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai --> ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **Bug Fixes** * Root monitoring stays disabled in generated platform package settings when `cozy-monitoring` is omitted, preventing monitoring Services from being rendered in narrowly selected test suites. * **Documentation** * Clarified how the root monitoring setting relates to the installation’s `Tenant/root` configuration and which setting to change to enable it. <!-- end of auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai -->
What this PR does
E2E installs the whole platform on a fresh cluster for every PR, whatever the PR touches, so install time and flake surface go to packages the selected suites never use. This PR makes the E2E install take only what the selected suites need.
hack/select-install.sh --disabled <suites>generatesbundles.disabledPackagesfor fresh E2E installs using an ordinary platform variant. It keeps suite owners, runtime requirements and the install baseline, then follows their forwardPackageSourcedependencies. The baseline follows the unconditional waits in
hack/e2e-install-cozystack.batsand stays seeded directly even where the graph reaches the same packages. It also keeps platform services that no suite owns but the rest of the platform uses:multus,cozystack-scheduler,linstor-scheduler,flux-plunger,cozy-proxyandouroboros(the Kubernetes suites assert its hairpin NAT). Backup suites also keepbackupstrategy-controllerand its dependencies, and the gateway suite keepskubeovn-webhook.The E2E job now selects the suites before it installs, and passes the complement to the platform Package as
disabledPackages. Thefull-e2elabel and an empty selection keep the full install, and the nightly and tag lanes pass no list. The platform sources also change:
mongodb-applicationnow depends onmongodb-operator, andseaweedfs-applicationonobjectstorage-controller. These dependencies apply to regular platform installs and upgrades too.The new
mongodb-operatoredge also reaches reverse test selection: a change underpackages/system/mongodb-operatornow selects themongodbsuite instead of falling back to the full suite. Backup APIs and the gateway webhook remain suite-specific install requirements, so they add no edges. The disable list governs fresh installs because existing Packages carry
helm.sh/resource-policy: keep. Optional packages still needbundles.enabledPackages. Packages that no suite owns and the baseline does not keep stay uninstalled on purpose, also when test selection answers with every suite (monitoring exporters likegoldpingerandkubeovn-plunger, apps without a suite, provider-specific operators). Nothing in the run looks at them, so installing them only adds a readiness wait, and a change to such a package gets no install check from this gate.Measured
One run per variant on a 32 vCPU / 128 GB VM, container lane, the CI artifacts of this PR,
postgressuite selected, 55 packages disabled:install-cozystack26m33s in both runspostgressuite 25m50s to 25m17s, passes on the reduced installInstall time did not change. The removed packages are mostly operators and apps without instances, and what the install waits on (SeaweedFS, LINSTOR, CDI, the Cluster API providers, Keycloak) stays in the baseline. With one run each, differences of a minute or two are noise.
The selection, the install closure and the workflow wiring are covered by bats tests (
hack/select-install_test.bats,hack/select-e2e_test.bats,hack/platform-packages_test.bats) and by a helm-unittest suite in the platform chart.Screenshots
