Try this notation:
const Token = eth.contract(tokenABI);
const token = Token.at('0x6e0E0e02377Bc1d90E8a7c21f12BA385C2C35f78');
it might be that the object is not producing the instance properly.
Also checkout this experimental lib for a different and easier notation:
ethjs-extras (npm).
Also, can you further expand on your other JS code to see how you are
setting up and constructing the eth object?
