We don't create a user data when loading the exiting one fails. I hacked around this locally:

  void didMount() {
    super.didMount();
    loadFitnessData().then((UserData data) {
      setState(() => _userData = data);
    }).catchError((e) {
      print("Failed to load data: $e");
      setState(() => _userData = new UserDataImpl());
    });
  }
