CupertinoPicker and CupertinoDatePicker don't play the ticker sound #37329

Closed

Description

@miguelpruivo

In iOS native, every picker (when sound is enabled) plays a slightly ticking noise along with the haptic feedback (which is already implemented). This should be added to the CupertinoPicker and CupertinoDatePicker as well.

Edit: also, the upper horizontal line in the focused item looks slightly different than the bottom (maybe the color shade or like 0.5 pixels bigger?) while the native are identical.

    This should have more priority IMO since it has an huge impact on those insightful iOS users. Any plans for this @LongCatIsLooong?

    @eth0izzle

    This seems like a fairly simple fix unless I'm missing something. For now I am doing SystemSound.play(SystemSoundType.click) and HapticFeedback.lightImpact() in my onDateTimeChanged() or onSelectedItemChanged() callbacks.

    Added the web label as this affect the web too, and it's possible that we'll need to wire up the haptic feedback through the web APIs somehow.

    @MaherSafadii

    I found fixed this issue in my app by using the AudioToolbox (iOS) framework, by running this swift snippet you should be able to produce the wheel picker tick sound that's on native iOS: AudioServicesPlaySystemSoundWithCompletion(1157, nil)

    I ran it with platform channels in the on change callback for the picker, I'm going to fix this issue as my first contribution to flutter.

    Is this still relevant? AFAIK as of iOS 14 the correct calendar implementation does not involve a scrolling cylinder anymore, and is being worked on here: #63693

    I think so. General iOS pickers still use the scrolling cylinder implementation from what I see in Apple's HIG docs: https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/pickers.
