    I have run this on a Pixel 4 and been able to achieve the desired effect using the SystemChrome API:

    import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
    import 'package:flutter/services.dart';

    void main() {
      WidgetsFlutterBinding.ensureInitialized();
      SystemChrome.setSystemUIOverlayStyle(SystemUiOverlayStyle(
        systemNavigationBarColor: Colors.transparent,
      ));
      // This removes the bottom navigation and fills the empty space
      SystemChrome.setEnabledSystemUIOverlays([SystemUiOverlay.top]);
      // --> OR <-- you could do this:
      // This removes the top and bottom and fills the empty space
      // This one resulted in a native pop up that notified me I was in full screen
      // mode and how to restore navigation by swiping up/down from the edges
      // SystemChrome.setEnabledSystemUIOverlays([]); <-- this is native full screen mode
      runApp(MyApp());
    }

    /// This is the main application widget.
    class MyApp extends StatelessWidget {
      @override
      Widget build(BuildContext context) {
        return MaterialApp(
          home: Builder(
            builder: (BuildContext context) {
              return Scaffold(
                floatingActionButton: FloatingActionButton(
                  child: Icon(Icons.add),
                  onPressed: () {},
                ),
                appBar: AppBar(title: const Text('The title')),
                body: Builder(
                  builder: (BuildContext context) {
                    return Container(
                      color: Colors.green,
                      child: Center(
                        child: Text('The content'),

            },

    I think this looks like the right way to go here for the native full screen behavior

    SystemChrome.setEnabledSystemUIOverlays([]);

    Thanks for your contribution.

    Could everyone who still has this problem please file a new issue with the exact description of what happens, logs, and the output of flutter doctor -v.
    All system setups can be slightly different, so it's always better to open new issues and reference related issues.

    Hey @pedromassango thank you for following up! I think this is still valid, I have been working on it and just haven't updated in a while. 😉

    So here's an update - I have a solution! Working on wiring things up from the engine now.
