"flutter logs" do not show logs on iOS 13+ physical device #44199
I'd rather we didn't deprecate this. I use it all the time on Android. I understand that it might not work on iOS, but it should be fine for it to continue working on other platforms. It's convenient because it filters down to flutter logs only, unlike adb logcat, and we can make it cleverer (e.g. automatically symbolicating stack traces in crashes).

I'm not sure if this is the right issue to discuss this, but I'm also not seeing flutter run logs on iOS. I do see logs when I open up XCode. It looks like #66399 attempted to fix this a couple years ago. Not sure the current status. I'm using

There's no (publicly exposed) way to get live unified logs off a device from the host's command line. May need to connect to the VM service.

The 'logs' command is not used very often. We should consider fixing this issue by removing it.

Let's add a
printError()at the top of the log command indicating that the command will be removed in the next stable.Hixie commentedon Nov 16, 2019

See #84000 for some more discussion.
This appears to work again on iOS 14 devices. @jmagman is this as simple as just removing
flutter/packages/flutter_tools/lib/src/ios/devices.dart

I think just removing that would cause duplicate
flutter run/drivelogs since the logs are also being streamed from anlldbsession.dnfield commentedon Jun 4, 2021
I'll try to experiment.

I mostly wanted logs (
flutter runlogs would be fine) for when I'm editing the engine and wish to log from the engine code. but I can use https://github.com/flutter/flutter/wiki/Debugging-the-engine#debugging-ios-builds-with-xcode for now if needed.eseidel commentedon May 18, 2023
