If we had a true Matrix lerp(), then we could do things like support Hero animations regardless of how transformed the hero was (instead of now, where the Hero and the Navigator have to be axis-aligned for it to work).
@Hixie There are nearly all kind of ImplicitlyAnimatedWidgets for all kind of transformations but not one for rotation.
As you pointed out here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/42681619/874886transform property does not get animated properly inside of an AnimatedContainer. So do always need to set an explicit AnimationController for a simple rotation animation?
Also for this specific issue: I wish you could implement the Matrix transformation in that paper since it would make 3d transformations on 2d widgets much easier for us.

https://master-api.flutter.dev/flutter/vector_math/Matrix4/decompose.html might help with this, though it seems to implement S as a scale rather than a symmetric positive definite stretch matrix, and there's no perspective matrix.
