We use the full path to the credential manager to access it from a WSL distro, so all git credentials can be stored in one single location - the windows credential manager. We set
git config --global credential.helper "/mnt/c/Program\ Files/Git/mingw64/bin/git-credential-manager.exe"in WSL.
With git forwindows 2.55.0 that worked fine - with 2.56.0 it no longer works. We had issuesin the past already with that path changing from time to time. We saw it at
`/mnt/c/Program\ Files/Git/mingw64/libexec/git-core/git-credential-manager.exe``/mnt/c/Program\ Files/Git/mingw64/libexec/git-core/git-credential-manager-core.exe``/mnt/c/Program\ Files/Git/mingw64/bin/git-credential-manager-core.exe`
Did the path change again? Or is the credential manager really missing this time?
You probably missed this part of the release notes of v2.56.0:
Following the MSYS2 project, on which Git for Windows is based, Windows 8.1 support was dropped; In doing so, internal paths changed (/mingw64/bin/git.exe does not exist anymore, /ucrt64/bin/git.exe takes its role; if this breaks your setups, consider switching to /cmd/git.exe instead, which is guaranteed to stay stable).
What you configured is an internal path. And it changed. So you'll have to adapt your configuration, too.

Ah, okay - that I missed. Thanks!

Note that we're in the process of updating the GCM + WSL interop docs to call out the different paths.
