docs/_utils/javadoc.sh installs the full reactor with -T 1C before generating javadoc. That races: examples names java-driver-mapper-processor as an annotation processor path, not a dependency, so the reactor does not order it after mapper-processor, and a parallel build can compile examples first:
[ERROR] Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-compiler-plugin:3.8.1:compile (default-compile) on project java-driver-examples: Resolution of annotationProcessorPath dependencies failed: Missing:
[ERROR] 1) com.scylladb:java-driver-mapper-processor:jar:4.19.0.10-SNAPSHOT
On a release version the jar is fetched from Central and the race is invisible. On a -SNAPSHOT nothing fills the gap, set -e stops the script, and the version publishes without api/. Reproduced locally on 4.19.0.9's next-snapshot commit (22 threads). scylla-4.x itself is at 4.19.2.2-SNAPSHOT and carries the same install; CI has fewer cores, which is why it has not failed there yet.
Fix: install only what the documented modules need, -pl core,query-builder,mapper-runtime -am. Deterministic, and it skips compiling the test modules.
