Why metaphactory

metaphactory defines, governs and connects business meaning across distributed data environments. It combines a robust semantic modeling and governance framework, virtual knowledge graph access to platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery and Amazon Redshift, and AI-native capabilities through metis, creating a governed semantic intelligence layer that bridges business and IT.

Our story

metaphactory has been at the forefront of semantic technology for over a decade, created in Walldorf, Germany, by a team with more than 20 years of experience in knowledge graphs and AI.

Since 2023, metaphactory has been part of Digital Science, a technology company serving the global research and enterprise ecosystem. That backing has accelerated the product's evolution: the integration of the metis AI platform brought AI-native capabilities into the core product, and the 2026 acquisition of Ontopic added virtual knowledge graph capabilities that connect meaning to data wherever it resides, without moving it.

The team continues to build metaphactory on open W3C standards with the same conviction it started with: enterprises do what they do better when their data carries meaning.
