NORFOLK - Country music radio station Kick-FM (WKCK 106.1) abruptly faded from the Hampton Roads airwaves Wednesday when Sinclair Communications replaced it with The Zone.
The WKCK call letters gave way to The Zone's WZNR. The new format is Top 40 contemporary - everything from Maroon 5 to Snoop Dogg, said Sinclair CEO Bob Sinclair in announcing the format change.
Listeners who tuned in Wednesday to The Zone heard Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot" played nonstop - an endless stream of "pizzle, dizzle and shizzle" followed by an announcement: "Something new is coming. …
